Sidharth's P.O.V.
I left everything and went away to London for a few days. Maybe, I didn't want to meet Shehnaaz and be in front of her for the first time. I know that I might be doing wrong but, I needed some time to calm my heart down as well. I, however, gave Daksh all his instructions about taking care of Shehnaaz and keeping an eye on her while I was away. The disappointed look he had on his face made me feel uncomfortable. I still consider him my best and closest friend but I never could express my feelings and emotions verbally to people. It's my weakest point.
Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
For the next few days, I kept meeting and going out with Aditya but something didn't feel right since I hadn't met Sidharth in days. I had no idea where he was and what he was doing. I kept worrying about him and no matter how much I called him or tried to ask Daksh, no one had an answer for me. I was sitting in my house, thinking about what could have happened when Daksh came inside. I looked at him with a huge frown. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Where is Sidharth?" I asked. "He has been really busy the past few days..." he started and I interrupted, "The past few days. That means, he is free now." He lowered his head. "Wow!" I said sarcastically, "He is avoiding me?" "It's not like that," he blurted out, "He's not in the country." Immediately, regret came to his face and I was displeased. The last time he was going, he told me. This time, he didn't find it important to inform me? I folded my arms and puffed my face with anger. "Tell him that when he returns, he doesn't need to even come and see me. If not meeting me is what he wants then, so be it," I said. "You have to give him some time," he said. "For what?" I asked. "Doing all of this isn't easy on him," he said. I was confused. "What do you mean, this isn't easy on him?" I asked. His phone rang and he frowned, looking at the screen. I understood and went up to him. Taking the phone away, I looked at Sidharth's name. I answered it and remained silently to hear what he had to say. "Hello? Daksh? Hello?" He said. I began feeling irritated inside. "Answer me," he said, annoyed, "Daksh!" Daksh took the phone away from me and answered, "Yes, sir." He glared at me. "I am at..." he said and I grabbed back the phone saying, "My house." "I thought so," he said. "Wow Sidharth! I didn't expect you to treat me like a charity case. Give me everything and then forget all about me. Thanks huh," I said and handed Daksh back the phone. I went back and sat down at the table, angry as ever. Let him come back to see me, I'll show him how angry I can be with someone.
Sidharth's P.O.V.
"I'm coming back tomorrow. Book my ticket," I said to Daksh. "Yes sir," he said. I hung up the call and sighed as I drank my glass of alcohol. I went back to my house and began packing for my return.
The next day, I was in front Shehnaaz's house as she was returning from work, walking with Aditya. It was time to stand up to the undeniable now. She was smiling but as she saw me, she frowned, angrily. "Hey, Sidharth," Aditya said, extending his hand for a handshake. I shook it. "How are you?" I asked. "We are good," he said, grinning. "I didn't ask for both of you," I said and looked at Shehnaaz, "I am asking how are you." She folded her arms and looked away. Aditya chuckled at me and asked, "Am I missing something here?" "Nothing," Shehnaaz said, holding his arm, "Let's go inside." She was carrying him inside but I held back her hand, stopping both of them. She turned back to me with an unchanged expression. "I'm sorry," I said. Finally, she looked at me but didn't respond. I looked at Aditya, a bit awkward and let go of her hand as his eyes fell on it. "We are just having some small, friendly fights," I said. "Ohh!" He said and side hugged her. I frowned and looked away. "Forget it Shehnu. He is saying sorry," he said, rubbing her arm. I kept glancing back and forth, uncomfortably at them. Shehnaaz bent her head, feeling shy as she looked up at me. "Let's go inside," she said to him but looking at me. They left me and went inside and I stood outside and waited. After some time, Aditya left and bid me goodbye as Shehnaaz stood at the door and waved at him. Her face dropped looking at me and as I was going up to her, she locked the door on my face. My mouth was left agape at her gesture and I dropped my shoulders, understanding how angry she must be at me. I stood and knocked on the door. "Go away," she said. "Shehnaaz, this is your landlord. Open up the house!" I said, a bit amused. She opened the door and pouted angrily at me. "Mr. Landlord, I am leaving your house right this moment," she said.
She was about to walk out when I stepped inside, making her step back. I locked the door behind me and looked at her with all my intensity. She, however, didn't budge from her annoyed face. "Why are you angry?" I asked. "Do you care?" She asked. "Of course I do. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here," I said. "You don't seem to," she said. "Shehnaaz..." I started, sighing but she raised her hand, stopping me, just like my style and I halted. "You told me to say yes to Aditya and left the country! You didn't even meet me or call me. What do you want me to think? Am I some charity case for you? Help and forget?" She asked. "I know that I made a mistake," I said. She clapped her hands saying, "Wonderful! Now take your realisation and leave me alone." I frowned and went to the table and sat down. "I am not going anywhere until you forgive me," I said. She stormed up to me and pointed me saying, "Listen Sidharth, I am very angry at you right now. Leave." "No!" I said. She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists, taking a deep, frustrated breath and went to the kitchen, behind me. She was silent until I heard dishes slamming and I turned my head, looking at her over my shoulder. She pouted at me and threw the metal spoon as hard as she could into the sink, making a loud noise. I was very much amused at her childish annoyance. I continued sitting there and listened to all the wares slamming against each other as she washed them. By the time she was finished, she came with a damp cloth and began wiping the already clean table as she frowned and looked at me angrily. I looked straight ahead and not at her but I could feel the glare on me. She went back to the kitchen and came back to me. Folding her arms, she looked at me and asked, "Are you being serious right now?" "I am," I said. Raising both her hands to me, she shook her head saying, "I don't have time for this." She turned around and was going to the bed when I got up and held her hand but lost my balance and fell with her on the mattress.
She looked up at me as she held onto my collar and panted at the sudden fall. I admired her with all my might and couldn't help to not look away. I took full advantage of this and said, "The only reason I went to London was so that you could spend enough time with Aditya and don't have to worry about meeting or talking to me. I just wanted you to start your relationship with him smoothly." Her eyes became softer as she looked at me. "Get off of me," she said, sternly. I frowned, disappointed and sat up on the bed. She followed me and punched my arm. I was startled. Pouting at me, she said, "If you ever do this again, I'll take your own gun and shoot you." She threw herself at me and hugged me saying, "Don't take away my only friend from me. I need you." I smiled. "Sorry," I said. She broke the hug and said, "You better be." She chuckled and everything felt in the right place now. "Come," she said, getting up, "I made Okra." My smile dropped. "You know, I'm not that hungry," I said. "It's either this or no forgiveness," she said, taking some out from the fridge. "It's ok. Besides, it might be cold from the fridge," I said, getting up. "I'll heat it up for you," she said. "I have to go. It's getting late," I said, looking at my watch. "Wait, I'll pack it then," she said. She really had an answer to every one of my complaints. I sat at the table, giving up and said, "It's ok then. I'll have it here." She heated the food in the microwave and brought it to me with a smile. I faked a smile at her as she sat opposite me saying, "Taste it and see." I nodded and ate a baby bite. She smiled at me asking, "Do you like it?" I lied and nodded. "Great! I'll get you more!" She said, about to get up. I quickly held back her hand and stopped her. "What's wrong?" She asked. "This is enough," I said. I began eating the meal, by force, and chewed the food without letting it remain on my tongue for too long.
I ate the meal as quickly as I could and drank a glass of water. "I'm done," I said. "Good boy!" She said, "You hate Okra and still you ate the entire thing. Commendable." I frowned and looked at her in awe. "You know I hate Okra?" I asked. Giggling, she covered her mouth and nodded. I wasn't angry at her making me eat it despite knowing. Slowly, I also joined in her laughter as we giggled away. "You are just impossible. You ate the entire plate!" She said, "Trust me, only I know how much I was suppressing this laughter." I smiled, looking at her this happy. As she looked at me, I looked away. Whenever times like this would come, I would be absolutely happy with her but soon get sadder knowing that she belongs to someone else and not me. The little bit of happiness I can bring her, I will do anything to bring it. Because she deserves it.
