Sidharth's P.O.V.
Hearing about the danger Shehnaaz's family could be in, she completely broke down I forgot, again, all the pain in my heart to be there for her and console her. She parted from my chest and looked up at me with her red, teary eyes. "You will protect my family, won't you?" She asked with hope in her eyes. "Nothing is going to happen to your family or anyone else," I said. "My father's biggest dream is seeing his daughters married into good homes. I can't get married with his blessings but Meeta is about to get married. I don't want him to go through anymore trauma and sadness. I gave my family enough sorrow until now. Perhaps my punishment is that I won't even get to see my sister on her wedding day or participate in any of her functions," she said. "Don't worry, everything will be good," I said, wiping away her tears. Daksh entered the office. "Sir, the board members are all in the conference hall. They are waiting for you," he said. I nodded and he left. Holding onto Shehnaaz's hand, I said, "I have a meeting now. You can order whatever you want to eat and we will go home together, okay?" She nodded.
I went to the conference hall where the board of directors were seated and chatting amongst themselves. Normally, we would hold a meeting at the end of the month and I am sure they are confused about the impromptu meeting today. They all stood up as I entered the room and sat down after I was seated. Daksh stood behind me like he would always do as I addressed everyone with my announcements, "Good afternoon. I know you all must be wondering why I called this meeting all of a sudden. I have two announcements to make. First is, I want every one of you to gather a team of your own and source Khanna for me. I have a lead but I want concrete results. You can start from residential buildings and spread out." "I don't understand. You are capable of doing this all by yourself. Then, why involve all of us to just look for one man?" One of my subordinates asked. "Khanna is keeping tabs, low key on me and my men. I am sending all of you so that he doesn't suspect anything. Also, whoever is the first to find him and bring him to me will get a special reward," I said, igniting greed in all of them. They all chatted between themselves. "What is the second announcement?" One asked. "I am going on a long leave in a few days," I said, shocking everyone, "Where I am going? How long I will be staying, no one needs to know that." "Who will lead the company in your absence?" Another asked. "Daksh," I said. "But Daksh goes everywhere with you? Where are you going if even Daksh isn't coming with you?" One asked. "I told you, no one needs to know that. Focus on the task I gave you if you want the result I have in mind for you," I said, getting up, "Meeting is over. Goodbye." I left the room with a confused Daksh following me asking, "Sir, what is going on? Where are you going and why all of a sudden?" "You will find out soon," I said, entering back into my office.
Shehnaaz was absent and a sticky note was left on my desk written on it, 'I'm sorry I am leaving like this without informing you. I have to meet Aditya today and talk to him. Please don't be angry. I have to talk to you also. I will be waiting at home for you.' I read it three times before putting it into my drawer. Why didn't I throw it away? I don't know. Perhaps, it is because everything that joins me to Shehnaaz, I want to secure it and cherish it when she goes away. It pained me though that she left despite I telling her we will go home together. "The driver informed me that Shehnaaz has reached home safely," Daksh said. I nodded and opened my laptop to distract myself with work but it was useless. My mind remained on the thoughts of Shehnaaz with Aditya. I sighed and closed down my laptop. "Sir, you know that it is affecting you. Why are you torturing yourself like this? Tell her how much you love her before its too late," Daksh said. "I explained to you so many times before. I cannot tell her about my feelings. She is in love with someone else. Moreover, she doesn't deserve a mafia like me. Protecting her and keeping her happy is my solace and I will continue to do so as long as I can but I cannot tell her how much I love her," I said with sadness filling my eyes, "Trust me, this is for the best for her. I can handle pain myself but I can't see her in pain." "Is that the reason you are planning on leaving everything behind and made such a sudden plan to go away?" He asked. I simply looked at him silently and he got his answer from that. It was a yes. I got up and left the office. I went to my casino and went into my private room where I drank heavily. I wanted to be completely out of my senses and get as high as I can on this alcohol before I could go home to see Shehnaaz. I might just have a reason to go straight to my room and sleep without any confrontation with her. Daksh was by my side for hours on end and night fell quicker than I expected and wanted. I could've hardly remained on my feet and stumbled out of the casino as Daksh held onto me. I felt extremely sick and wanted to throw up.
