Sidharth's P.O.V.
After the aarti, everyone sat at the dining table for dinner. Shehnaaz and her sister couldn't stop chatting and catching up on life so far as I looked at her with my heart filled with fulfillment seeing her so happy. Afterall, that's the reason I did all of this.
*Flashback*
After Shehnaaz left my room, I sat up on my bed and thought of doing something special for her. I knew that she misses her family a lot and since our wedding was so soon, she would need her family more than anything else. I got the idea to call her sister and brother-in-law since that seemed like the safest option since she wasn't in her father's house anymore. I quickly messaged my IT department from work and ordered them to source Shehnaaz's sister's number urgently and at the soonest. By the time I finished bathe and came back, I had the number. I called her, explained who I was and that we were getting married soon and requested her to come for her sister's sake. Luckily, she agreed to come with her husband and I decided to keep it a secret and surprise Shehnaaz. Like I planned, Shehnaaz got surprised and she was much more happy and relaxed having her sister around her.
*End of flashback*
Ajay, Shehnaaz's brother-in-law sat next to me as he said, looking at the sisters, "Thank you for doing this. You have no idea how much Meeta and Sonu misses their big sister. Their mom also misses her dearly. Everyday, she wakes up and look at Shehnaaz's picture and cry." This broke my heart as I couldn't handle the thought of any mother crying for their child. I saw my own mother crying everyday because of relationships and that hurt still dwelled inside me. I didn't want Shehnaaz having the same fate as she did and it was my duty to make sure of that. "Why can't Shehnaaz's father forgive her?" I asked. He took a deep breath and sighed saying, "He is way too old fashion. For him, society's views and acceptance matter more than his own daughters' happiness. He will never accept her back after what happened. He perhaps still has the love for her in his heart but his ego won't let him accept it. Many times I have seen him in her room, looking through her stuff and books. He also misses her but in solitude." "I only did all of this for Shehnaaz's happiness," I said, looking at her, giggling with her sister. "I have never seen Shehnaaz this happy before. I have known their family from childhood and trust me, she has never been like this before. She spent her life until now trying to get the appreciation of their father and always failed somehow. She deserves a person like you in her life after all that she went through," he said, "I haven't seen Meeta this happy also in months. Throughout our wedding, I saw her shedding tears secretly because Shehnaaz wasn't there." "She saw the wedding," I said. He looked at me taken aback. "I made it possible for her to see the wedding," I said. "But, how?" He asked. "I..." I started when Daksh came and interrupted me. "Sir, may I speak to you for a moment?" He asked. I nodded and excused myself from the group. Going away from the table, he handed me his phone saying, "Your father wants to speak to you." I frowned, disappointed and a bit annoyed. Not wanting to create a scene or spoil Shehnaaz's happy moment, I took the phone and stepped outside the house to talk.
"What do you want?" I asked, straightaway. "Sidharth, I heard you are getting married," he said. "That's none of your business," I said. "I am your father," he said, sternly. "You are nobody to me," I said in the same tone. "Whether you accept it or not, I will remain your father," he said, "I only called to tell you one thing. Marriage is a very responsibility filled commitment. If you are sure that you can handle that, only then go on with this because as much as I have understood Shehnaaz, she is a simple and innocent girl. She won't be able to live the dangerous life you lead." My blood boiled as I clenched my fists. "First of all, you should be the last person teaching me about marriage and it's responsibilities. Secondly, I can handle myself and my wife excellently so you don't have to worry about her wellbeing. Thirdly, don't think that you call yourself my father so you have a right to interfere in my life. My life has nothing to do with you. Stop interfering and stay away from Shehnaaz. I don't want down to your shadow around my wife, do you understand? Do me a favour and don't ever call me again," I said, angrily before cutting the call. I took a deep breath and slightly composed myself. As I turned around to go back inside, Shehnaaz was standing behind me with her arms crossed over her chest as she looked at me with a long face. Smiling and trying to shrug off her glare, I asked stepping up to her, "Why did you come outside and leave your sister? It's freezing. Come, let's go inside before Daksh give us some ginger tea again." I hurried back inside and she followed me without asking or telling me anything. I didn't think much about if she heard my conversation with Dad or not because she knew and understood my strained relationship with him.
