chapter 8 (Place of Agony: Honeymoon Day 7)

HENDRICKS' POV

Early in the morning, around 6 am, Rose invited me to go jogging. The resort had a jogging and exercise area, where many people were engaged in various activities like jogging, biking, having coffee, and chatting.

As we were jogging, I overheard a conversation among some ladies.

"Lady 1: Room 14344 had an emergency alarm last night."

"Lady 2: Yes, the guest managed to press the emergency button. The resort's service is impressive, with quick response from medics and security guards."

"Lady3: The owner, who is also a doctor, personally decided to airlift her. The helicopter arrived around 6 am."

"Lady4: The lady collapsed, possibly due to stress. She's pregnant, and her husband left her alone most of the time on their honeymoon."

"Lady5: They couldn't contact her husband, and despite the bleeding stopping, the owner insisted on the airlift."

"Lady3: She was sedated and lifted onto the helicopter, as they were worried about the stress causing complications."

"Lady1: Lucky for her, a helicopter was available. It's leaving the island around 2 pm, much later than the usual 7 pm flight."

"Lady 2: The poor woman always walks alone by the shore. What a tragic situation for her honeymoon, abandoned by her husband."

"Lady4: She often eats alone, and it's sad to think her husband neglects her, especially on their honeymoon."

"Lady5: They said she saw her husband with someone else in a cottage, and it seems she couldn't handle the emotional stress."

"Lady1: I wonder where the husband is now. The helicopter left, and he's unreachable."

"Lady3: The girlfriend of the resort owner might be with him. They were on a yacht trip to a private sandbar the other day."

"Lady 2: The doctor owner is a hopeless romantic; everything in the resort is related to his girlfriend. Even his house is named Casa de Amor."

"Lady4: I was at the sandbar yesterday, Isla del Fierro, where the yacht anchored. It's exclusively for 'MonAmour' and a few friends of the doctor."

"Lady 2: The doctor is so in love; everything here is related to his girlfriend. The house is named Casa de Amor."

"Lady 3: The poor person from room 14344, seeing her husband with someone else in the bar. Her Bali vacation seems like a nightmare."

"Lady 1: Maybe he participated in the body shot challenge?"

"Lady4: It's heartbreaking. Why would her husband bring her here just to torture her?"

"Lady3: Karma is powerful; someday he'll regret it. When he falls in love, he might suffer terribly."

"Lady1: Men like him deserve a firing squad, to prevent them from reproducing and spreading their behavior."

I couldn't bear to listen anymore and invited Rose to return to her room. I quickly went to our room and found only my luggage. There was a sticky note on it...

I'm sorry for leaving you. I had to go to the hospital because I was bleeding, and I didn't know which hospital they would take me to. I left a note because I couldn't reach you. I left your luggage because I know you need your clothes and other things. Enjoy your last day in Bali. Take care. I love you. Hopefully, when we meet again, let me love you.
