Kendallremembers that day he stood in front of Mr. Anderson with the others thatgraduated from training. He remembers reciting those rules. Then Mr. Andersontold him why he was here and what he must do. He was told to get closed toHollywood. It took Kendall years to get himself establishes with all theproducers, actors, actress in Hollywood. Kendall was the best at what he did.During the day he would hang out at Frankie's. A Hollywood hangout. At nighthere at the club. He was told to make contact to intertwine himself with them. Duringthe day he was an agent helping the producers like George find the next hotitem. At night he managed the theatre that was his real job. It made him lookrespectable normal in the eyes of others. It was so people wouldn't ask too many questions. They wouldn't think twice about what he was doing. It was best if they thought of him as a friend.
Kendall was heading to a club in downtown Los Angles that caters to up and coming performers. It was sometime called "Nightclub of the Stars" It was Fred and his wife Vel's club. Vel was short for Velma. He was introduced to them when he first got into this business. When Vel sings she can take all your troubles away. This was the best place to be after he salute his friend. Vel can make you forget anything with her voice. He jokes with her often enough and ask why she wasn't producing movies. She laughed at him and told him she find just where she at. You don't call it a bar in downtown Los Angles. It's a club. It was a very fashionable club where a lot of
up-and-comingactors and actress hung out. Kendall park his black Chevy Chevelle on thestreet and walk across to the club. It was on a corner between two streets. Theclub was painted a dark blue with a neon flashing lady in a taunting red dressbeckoning you to come inside. Danny the bouncer was outside make sure only theright people got in. Hi Danny Kendall said. Danny shook his hand, Kendall it'sgood to see you. The bosses are inside he said, as he opens the door forKendall. Kendall went down a short hallway and enter the club. It was pack fullof people looking to have a good time. The club was decorated and show Velflamboyant taste. Kendall found his favorite spot and order a drink. Vel wassinging. Kendall sip his drink scotch on the rock and let Vel voice flow overhim. It was just what he needed to forget. Forget what he couldn't control inhis life. Kendall looks around and spotted a familiar face. Camilla was an attractive lady. She was a look alike to Marylin, (don't tell her it will only make her mad) but none of the sultriness that Marylin had. Camilla was full of life with the hint of sweet naive. He nodded to her, and she came over. Well, if it isn't Kendall. Sit have one on me said Kendall. They drank quietly listening to Vel sing. Kendall asked how the acting was going. She said that she might get the lead part with a piece George was working on. Camilla asked if Kendall could put in a word with George about her. He said he would. Kendall asked all the right question. He also asked if there was anyone, she knew that had any promise. Camilla introduces him to several of the ladies that she knew. Francis the alluring French model. Janice a beautiful black lady who sang backup for Natalie. She was shy but oh when she opens her mouth she could sing. There have been plenty of times she would sing with Vel. And the beautiful and alluring Lula Mae. Everyone just calla her Lul. She was outspoken and working on becoming an actress. The last one to be introduce to Kendall was Jana. A dancer, model, actress currently working with George on his new movie. She was a beautiful brunette with a body of a dancer. Thin and muscle. She looks beautiful in that off the shoulder black dress she was wearing. They all sat drinking and before long they were all hanging out and cheering Vel and Janice on. Kendall looks around. This was a place that you came to if you wanted to blend in. A place where Kendall could find out what he needed to know. The ladies were eye candy and always up for a drink. Kendall was always the charmer. A ladies man.
Kendall,good man, how are you doing? said Fred. Fred dress in a dark gray suit with aloud abstract tie was a good man. He was not remarkable in anyway. Fred was awhite man of medium height with short brown hair. Fred always had a smile foryou. Kendall thinks it's his smile that won Vel's heart. Kendall shook hishand. Hey, Frank, how are you doing? He introduces Camilla and her friends.They talk for a while. When Vel singing was replace with another up-and-comingactress, she came to Fred side and said her hello. Vel was a lovely black womanwho was beautiful at sight. Vel a real breath-taking woman. So full of life. Ahuge smile and a heartly laugh. She was eye-catching in her own right,revealing much but concealing just enough. Hello, Kendall, you do lookravishing tonight. Vel was always giving out the complements. Kendall took herhands and brush her a kiss. The lovely Vel you are always amazing to look at.Kendall introduces her to Camilla and her friends. They chatted for a bit thenKendall said his goodbyes. The club was closing, and he offer to walk Camillato her car. They stood outside the club. It was dark and the only thing showingwas the neon sign of the lady introducing the club. Fred did like to makethings flashy and big. Just like Fred who always wore a gold bracelet with hisname etch in diamonds. He took Camila arm and walk her to her car and help herin. Are you all right to drive he asked? I'm find Kendall. You do so worryabout me. He leans in and kiss her on the cheek. Please be careful he whispers.He stood up and backup to give her room. I'll see you at George parties hesaid. Kendall watch Camilla leave. She was a beauty he thought as he headed tohis car. He turns an saw a man waiting outside the club smoking. He thought it was odd. Kendall saw Jana step out of the club, and the man put out his cigarette with the heal of his shoe. The man headed aggressively towards Jana. Kendall knew it wasn't her boyfriend. Jana didn't have one. She was too busy acting. Kendall yelled and wave to Jana and cross the street. There you are let me take you home. He asked as the man stood there glaring at Kendall. Kendall usher her to his car an open the door. He closed it, glance back, strange he thought the man was nowhere in sight. He went around and got in. He places his hands on the steering wheel. Do you know that man, he quietly asked Jana? Who asked Jana? The man standing smoking a cigarette. He seems to be waiting for you. Jana looks at him. There was no man waiting for me. I was going to take the bus home. Kendall starts the car and look at Jana "you need to be more careful". They chatted about George upcoming movie as Kendall drove her home. He pulled up to a quiet neighborhood and park in front of a house with a picket fence yard. Kendall put the car in park and got out. He went around and open the door for Jana. Kendall helps her out and closed the door. He looks around it was quiet. Kendall walks Jana to the door and brush a kiss on her forehead. He said goodnight. Kendall turned and left. He walks to his car. Kendall pauses as he hears the motor of a car. He looks around and didn't see any cars driving by. That's odd he thought. Kendall got in and started his car. Tomorrow he will go see George and asked him if he knew the guy. He seems awfully familiar, thought Kendall. Leroy watch Kendall leave. He couldn't stand Kendall. Kendall always protective of the ladies. The ladies adore him, always dancing with him. Hanging out with him. Kendall was everyone's friend. Kendall was getting in his way, and he hated it so. Leroy pulled out of his hiding spot and left planning his next move.
