This man that sat before him was his friend. His only friend that listen to him when his father was dying of cancer. They were childhood friends and now because of an ethic difference he was here to interrogation him in any means necessary. Kendall must show no emotions. If they knew that he knew Frank, they would kill him and Frank. Kendall took off his suit jacket and carefully hung it on the back of the chair and sat down. Kendall started asking the questions that his boss wanted to know. He knew Frank didn't know. That his family was as loyal to the USA as he was. There were questions he must ask. Kendall work him just like every other Jap that he interrogated. This one was no different. He kept reminding himself of that. This one was no different. An hour, then two all night long, Kendall kept at it. He must not show any weakness because they were watching. If they assume he was showing favor with this one, they would catch on. So relentlessly he questions the prisoner until Frank gave him a name that he could work with. Kendall pick up his suit jacket and left the room sadden by today. Frank was his friend. This damn war he hated it so much. He hated what he became today. A betrayal of a friend. It was best if Kendall remembered the rules. There was no room for sentimental feelings in his life.

Henry came up to him. Hey Kendall, Mr. Anderson is waiting for you. So Kendall brush off his jacket, put it on and straighten his tie. He entered the office where Mr. Anderson sat. Mr. Anderson looks up at Kendall and glare at him. Oh, no, what did I do? Kendall thought.

He did not know. Mr. Anderson was a man of few words. Mr. Anderson stood up and walk around his desk toward Kendall. Good work today. I have something for you to do. He lay out what Kendall was about to do. Kendall's heart turn to ice. Kendall show no emotion when Mr. Anderson lay out the plan to capture the enemy. When does this go into effect asked Kendall? Tomorrow night you are to tell no one. Got it, said Kendall. He turns with a heavy heart and exit the room. Kendall didn't know how this would turn out, but he knew his friend's time was up and there was nothing he could do about it.

Kendall drove his Chevy Chevelle through the empty streets of Los Angles. It was quiet at this time of night. He was on his way to pick up Frank only thing is his friend didn't know it was him. Tonight, he would find out who the true enemy was. They said to keep your enemy close to you, but this was unbearable. To think that the family you grew up with, you ate dinner with, slept in their house, laugh with them. To imagine that their son was an enemy of the USA. It broke his heart. Made him sad and angry about what they forced him to do next. Kendall knew Frank wasn't an enemy, but there was no way to convince them he wasn't one without exposing the truth. The truth is that Kendall knows Frank. The security guard wave him through the gate and Kendall park outside the camp. He was clear to enter the building. Kendall went to the holding cell where his friend was handcuffed and eyes cover. He didn't want him to know who he was. He nodded to the guard to take him to the van. The ride to the designated area was short and in silence. Kendall thought about all the times he spent with Frank. He long to go back to those simpler times. They drove to the designated area. Kendall exit out of the vehicle and found a good hiding place. At the require time, the guard walk his friend out and uncuffed him and took off his blindfold. The guard step back towards the vehicle. In a moment, an old man steps out and hugs his friend. Frank, I thought I never see you again, said Frank's dad. When they came to Frank's home, his dad was away on business. When Norman came back, he heard that his family and all of his friend were told to vacant their homes. Frank's dad has been in hiding ever since that day. They whisper together, holding on to each other. Kendall recognizes the old man as Frank's father. He was holding Frank's face and smiling when the bullet enters the back of his head and enter Frank. A second bullet enter the guard. Kendall covers his mouth and watch in horror and knew that his boss didn't want the information but to kill them both. Kendall emerges from the shadows. So it was planned, and he was the only one that wasn't in on it. Mr. Anderson was testing his loyalty. Kendall stood over the dead kneeled. He knew the sniper was still there. Kendall could feel him. Kendall closed their eyes and said goodbye and quietly slipped into the night. He moved in the snipper's direction but only found an imprint left. He would find out who did this. Kendall didn't know why Mr. Anderson order the hit. He will never know what Frank meant to him. Frank was his friend. How was he going to tell Frank's mom and sister. They would be devastated. Kendall walk away sadden by tonight events. He knew Mr. Anderson was testing him, wanted to see how Kendall reacted to it. Kendall show no emotion. He walk several blocks an flag down a taxi. Where you headed to the man asked. Home said Kendall and gave the man his address. He'll pick up his car up tomorrow. He just didn't have the heart to go back there tonight. Kendall would deal with Mr. Anderson tomorrow. He enter his apartment and place his keys on the table. He walk over to the cabinet and got a glass and pour himself a cold one. Here to you Frank i'm sorry i wasn't there for you. Kendall went to the livingroom and place the bottle on a coaster on the coffee table. Kendall sat on the couch lend his head back. He was so tired of all of it. He thought of his time with Franks family and a tear escape and slowly travel down his face. Good-bye Frank and Norman i will missed you. He swung back the drink and place it on a coaster next to the bottle. Kendall lay back and thought of simpler times in his life. The smile and laughter of Frank and his Father Norman.
