I am, indeed, a king, because I know how to rule myself.

Pietro Aretino

Kendall's Rules

Kendall had rules that he lived by. These rules have saved him so many times. They were intertwining into the very essence of himself. Rules that must never be broken or your life would pay the price.

Rule number 1

"never reveal your true self. "

Kendall knew himself. It was something that he came to term with a long time ago. It is also something that he doesn't reveal to others.

Rule number 2

"always be two steps ahead "

Kendall has learned how to survive by always planning ahead. Thinking of other ways to accomplish the same goal. It is how he lives, and it has save him several times during the war.

Rule number 3

"don't believe what your told always double check"

Kendall didn't believe what people said was true. He always doubles check. Kendall would find himself asking questions back to them to see if he could catch them in a lie. People always lie.

Rule number 4

"Always be specific when you lie"

Kendall has learned that if you must lie then be specific and repeated it over and over until the lie become truth.

Rule number 5

"Never take anything for granted"

Kendall has learned a hard lesson when he lost his only one true friend. It is something that he will never forget. Never take anyone for granted.

Rule number 6

"When the job is done, walk away"

Kendall has been given lots of orders over the years. To help him simplify his life, he had to learn to walk away. When you completed the mission forget about it and walk away. No sense dwelling on it.

Rule number 7

"Never put your trust in another person"

Kendall learns that if you don't want to be betray then don't trust them. The only one you can count on is yourself. Selfish? no, it all about surviving,

Rule number 8

"Never get personally involved"

Kendall knows that this is the rule he should take to heart. It is the one rule he has difficulty with. To not get involved would mean that he was less of a human. To survive; Kendall had to take his emotions, his empathy, his kindness to humanity and put it in box and hide it away. Away so others couldn't find it and hurt him. So, he could survive being an agent.

Rule number 9

"Never let anyone suspect what your doing"

Kendall was good at this. This rule must never be broken. It is his way of life. They must never know the real Kendall. To everyone he was their friend, a good fellow. Kendall was the only one who knew the truth.

Rule number 10

"Always trust your gut"

Kendall was born with an instinct that most people don't have. He was a quick judge of character and was always right about someone. With a handshake Kendall knew what kind a person you were. It was something that Kendall didn't let others know about him. These rules were drill into him to the point they became a way of life.

Kendal work for the government and at the time they were very interested between Hollywood and the communist party. There was reported that communism was being pervasive in Hollywood. It was Kendall job to find out who had communist support and reported them to Mr. Anderson. Communism was the focus of the American fears and hatred. They were afraid that Hollywood was plotting to overthrow the government. Like his friends would ever do that. Thought Kendall.

All his friends wanted to do was party and have a good time. "Live in the moment" was George motto. Frank just wanted to dance with the ladies. Bob was the joker. He was always getting a laugh out of you. To think that his friends were communist sympathizer was laughable.
