Everly's POV
I'm downstairs with Jake and Teagal making cookies.

Dad walks in.

"Where's Mom?" Jake asks.

"I put her on bed rest. She's exhausted and needs to sleep." Dad says.

"Is she okay?" I ask.

"Yeah, she's fine but needs some peace and quiet." Dad says.

"I love Mommy." Teagal says.

"Why does mommy work too hard?" Jake asks.

"Your Mom doesn't work too hard, buddy. She works hard, yes, but sometimes Mom forgets to give herself a break." Dad says.

"Let's get Mom flowers." Jake says to Teagal.

"Yeah!" Teagal says and they high five.

"What about dinner?" Jake asks.

"I'll make dinner." Dad says.

"Good job were making cookies." I say.

"Ev, I can cook you know." Dad laughs.

"Sure, and I can climb a mountain." I roll my eyes.

"Matt's coming over anyway." Dad says.

"Uncle Matty!" Jake smiles.

"Can we bake them yet?" Teagal asks, picking up the tray of cookies.

"Yep." I say, opening the oven.

"What are we doing today?" Jake asks, climbing on Dad.

"We're gonna go watch a basketball game with Carrie and Uncle Matty." Dad tells him.

"What did you say?" Jake asks.

"We're gonna see a basketball game." Dad repeats.

"Can we get cola?" Jake asks.

"If you're good." Dad says.

"I'm always good." Jake smiles.

"No you're not." Teagal laughs.

"I am!" Jake yells.

"Hey, no yelling." Dad says.

Jake starts arguing at Dad.

"Can we go build my Legos?" Teagal asks me.

"Yeah." I nod, taking his hand.

Mom walks downstairs before we can get to the playroom.

"What's with all the yelling?" Mom asks us.

"They're fighting again." Teagal says and I point at Jake and Dad.

"What happened?" Mom asks.

"Jake lashed out and Dad's tryna keep his cool." I say.

"Dammit." Mom murmurs.

"You have to put a dollar in the swear jar, Mom." Teagal giggles.

"There would be nothing in my purse if I had to put a dollar in the swear jar every time I curse." Mom teases him, ruffling his hair.

"Mom, I thought you were meant to be on bed rest?" I ask.

"I am. But I needed a pain killer and your Dad and brother are yelling so I gotta go deal with that." Mom says.

"Good luck." I grin.

"We're going to a basketball game!" Teagal tells Mom.

"Your Dad said. That'll be exciting." Mom smiles.
