'Did you hear the rumour? I heard one of the teams has a mechanic that was tested positive' he looked at his boyfriend. 'It's probably nothing, how bad can it be?' He replied before they said their goodbyes in the carpark as they made their way to their respective hospitality's

Monday , march 9th 2020. 08.00 a.m.

The couple had driven together from Monaco to the airport in nice with Max's father, Pierre and Alex. To say their friend's were surprised by the addition to their car ride was an understatement, the couple acting like they normally would even more. Pierre and Alex kept exchanging glances during the entire ride.

They entered the waiting area were all the people who were flying with private jets could wait. Max, Alex, Pierre and Daniil would fly with the chartered Redbull plane and Charles would fly with Sebastian and Vista jet. The couple had kissed each other goodbye in the car not being able to do that in the airport and for at least a couple of hours. 'I'll miss you!' 'Me too, I love you'

Then the group made their way in and the couple acted like colleagues and not much more.

'Calamar what happend during winter break?' The Frenchman asked perplexed at his friend. Charles had messaged him about some of it but he couldn't believe his eyes. The monegasque tried to explain what had happend in the last four months. 'I am happy for you guys but please be careful petit' he ended their conversation before he had to board the plane.

Alex and Max had almost the same conversation when Jos was out of earshot.

Friday, march 13th 2020. 12.00 p.m.

'This weekend's season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne has been cancelled. The news follows McLaren's withdrawal from the race on Thursday, after one of their team members tested positive for the coronavirus.'

'Maybe it's worse after all' the monegasque thought to himself. He would have a short debrief with the team on what would happen now. He decided to text Max before he headed in to the red hospitality with Sebastian.

C: hey love, heard anything from Redbull yet?

He didn't get a reply as he went in so Max was probably in debrief with his team as well.

About an hour and a half later He walked out with Sebastian again.
'And, did you hear anything from Redbull yet?' The German asked. 'Not before we went in but I had my phone on flight mode' Charles replied as he turned his phone back on, then his phone immediately ringed, signaling he got some message's.

The first one he saw was from his mother, she was worried about him after the cancellation news broke. Also because there were worldwide rumours about closing the boarders.

Then he also got a text from Max.

Max❤️: hey babe, just entering debrief now, I'll text you after okay?

Max❤️: just got out, Redbull wants us back to Europe as soon as possible, they are worried about closing the boarders. What about Ferrari?

Max❤️: how late do you get out?

Max❤️: Ferrari taking their sweet time aren't they?

Max❤️: please call me when you can, Redbull wants us at the airport soon.

Charles read the texts and quickly excused himself from Sebastian to call.

'Hey you, they finally let you go?' Max picked up the phone.
'Yeah they took their time non?' the monegasque smiled in his phone.
'Why they even need so long for? It's not like their was something that needed to be discussed from racing anyway' the dutchman questioned.
'Honestly, I don't know at first they were like should we stay cause maybe if the members form mclaren are better next week the race might go ahead' this made the dutchman snort in reply.
'Really?'
'Yeah yeah I know' Charles dismissed with his hand even though the dutchman obviously couldn't see. 'But when the news of the boarders possible closure broke they completely changed strategy'
'Sounds like Ferrari ' the dutchman joked.
'Hey stop it!' The monegasque tried to sounds serious. 'I'm sorry' the dutchman chuckled in his ear.
'So what's the plan?' He then asked.
'We needed to pack our stuff and then we would be brought to the airport I believe, how about you? Are you already at the airport?' The monegasque answered.
'Waiting to be picked up at the hotel as we speak, will be in Nice again tomorrow around 12, and you?' 'As scheduled we should be their around 14,45' he sighed. 'Guess I'll ask my mum to pick me up'
'Non of that!' Max said loudly. 'I'll wait for you and we drive together'
'You want to make your dad wait almost 3 hours?' Charles snorted.
'Well he still has some making up to do so he can prove his willingness by that'
The monegasque just laughed at that.
' I love you , you know'
'I know and I love you to, but my ride is here. I'll text you at the airport okay?'
'Okay, see you tomorrow Mon Chou, have a safe flight!'
'You to schatje, I love you'

With that they hung up and went on their ways.

22 hours after he ended their call Max and his father arrived at the airport. He had told his father during their flight about his plan to wait for Charles. His father initially had groaned at the plan cause he was so tired from the flight but had agreed afterwards to Max's surprise it went so easy.

They were seated in a boot at the vip area restaurant. Eating lunch when his father spoke up. 'You remind me of your mum.' The older Dutchman said. Max looked up at him curiously. 'What do you mean?' He asked his mouth still half full of the sandwich he was munching on. 'Just the way you take care of others, you got that from your mom' he smiled a small smile at him. 'Uhh thanks' Max smiled back at him before looking at his food again not really sure how to respond to his father. He still needed to get used to this new dynamic between them.
They chatted for the rest of the time. And after about 3 hours Charles appeared from the outside airport doors his backpack in tow as he discreetly waved at the dutch pair. Surprised by the good spirits of the pair.

The threesome made their way back to Monaco not knowing then what This new virus, COVID -19 would change for them.

I'm sorry this wasn't the most exciting chapter but I wanted to make the time hop and set the scene for the next couple of chapters. Hope you still like it though.

I hope to get the next Chapter done for the weekend since I'm going to Spa🇧🇪🙏. I'll do my best to post it on time!
