He looked at the alarm clock next to his bed as it read twelve o'clock. He moved the blankets off of him and got up. The lights were off and it was dark in his room. He found himself laying still as a pair of hands wrapped gently across his body.

This is troublesome...

He's contemplating whether or not to actually leave. He can either follow what the voice that doesn't even exist anymore says and get this over once and for all. Or he can stay here...

Frankly, the first option is bad in its own way when Lucia is clinging to him in her sleep. Ever since they came back, she plans to sleep with him for maximum safety.

He won't lie and say he dislikes it... the problem though is that if she were to catch him, she'd get the others to lock his door so he won't leave at night. He can make up an excuse like getting a midnight snack but it's highly that she'll follow along. For the sake of his, "safety".

He slowly began shifting away from her arms and loosening up. It seems despite her efforts, the body does not sense at all that he's leaving. He managed to get unwrapped by her hands and gets up from the bed.

"Phew... I got scared for a moment." The Commandant muttered as he wiped the sweat from the tensing of leaving her embrace.

"Com...man...dant..."

She's sleep talking?

He looked on in awe as he saw Lucia's face morph into worry and sadness. Her arms twitched and so did her hands. As if she's trying to cling to something.

"Where...are you?" Lucia mumbled with sadness. "Don't... leave me... I love you..."

"I love you too... you're my best friend." The Commandant smiled despite Lucia's weird wording choice. But he knew that she meant she loves being around him. Just like how he likes her around him. The best of friends indeed.

As he sees Lucia squirm around, he grabbed the pillow and moved it toward Lucia. If he doesn't replace himself with something, she'll surely wake up if her body starts unconsciously catching up that he's gone—

As soon as the pillow touched Lucia's fingertips slightly, she was quick to pull the pillow to her. Her arms wrapped around the pillow tightly and possessively.

"..." The Commandant winced as he sees how tightly Lucia is hugging the pillow. That could've been him... He got lucky then. Sometimes he forgets that she's strong.

"I will protect you..."

Cute...

He looked at Lucia who snuggled against the pillow. With one final look at Lucia, he walked out of the room.

Fwoosh

He sighed in relief as the sound of the door opening and closing didn't wake Lucia up. The lights around the station are off to preserve power at night. He walks through the halls of the space station.

He looks out the glass and stares into the orbit of space. It's amazing that humans were able to reach such heights that people can go into space. Sometimes he can't help but wish he was there when civilization began building Babylonia.

What a beautiful thing it would have been to see. The creation of Babylonia. Just what is the threshold of human creations? What is the peak of the human mind exactly? Just how much can humanity advance?

The earth looks beautiful. Their planet is beautiful. But it's been tainted by the Punishing Virus... and it's also been tainted by human civilization. Perhaps that's just natural to happen. No matter what humans may do, they will always bring destruction with them.
