Commandant and his Constructs [PGR]

Chapter 40

Everyone arrived at the destination and immediately went to work. There isn't time to spare and any wasted time can cost failing the mission of saving these people.

Immediately, the Commandant tasked Liv to stay in the shelter and help out with treating any wounded. He had Nanami be with Liv in case the place is pushed back by the Hetero-Creatures.

For now, all they can do is suppress the Hetero-Creatures until Liv finishes treating all the patients. The Commandant doesn't worry because he has faith in Liv.

"Commandant watch out!" Pulled away, the sound of a gunshot rang as Lee had his gun extended out and shot point blank at one of the Hetero-Creatures with a stoic expression. "You should watch out. Just stay close so you won't get overwhelmed if more than one aims for you."

Without responding the Commandant grabbed his gun strapped by his side and shot to the side. A Hetero-Creature fell as his back faced Lee's. "You should watch out as well. You can't just leave yourself exposed while worrying for me."

Lee closed his eyes calmly as he shook his head. "We'll push back the Hetero-Creatures and you focus on killing the ones that get closer to you."

"Got it. Good luck."

"Same goes for you."

Gripping his gun as a gush of wind flowed past him, he observed his surroundings as he aimed at the nearby Hetero-Creature. His gun is effective against the weaker ones as he saw the monster fall with a thud with a single blast to the head. His grip against his gun was nostalgic and he recalled his training as he went ahead turned to the side quickly and shot another Hetero-Creature.

As a human. There's not much he can do against both the Corrupted or Hetero-Creatures. He knew what he was signing up for the moment he chose to be a Commandant. However, there are still things he can do even though he's limited. Killing off the weaker enemies is easier said than done. He looked behind him where Lee and Lucia were. He felt proud looking at them. Although he always says for the most part that he's not biased against other squad teams and that he treats everyone equally, there's a bias towards the three that he's known the longest.

He sees as Lucia jumps into the air and out of the blue, multiple Hetero-Creatures are killed as the area ahead is covered with sheer ice. He can feel the coolness even if he's afar. Meanwhile, Lee is running around the area with his guns at hand and shoots rapidly while easily dodging the attacks thrown at him.

It's a shame Liv isn't here. However, her purpose lies elsewhere away from the battlefield for the moment. Although Nanami would also be great to have with them, her role is not here with the three of them.

Oops! My thoughts kept me sidetracked! He dodged a lunge as a Hetero-Creature got close. He was so busy thinking of everyone that he forgot he was out here on the battlefield. Quickly pulling the trigger he saw as the Hetero-Creature fell once it got hit on the head.

The Commandant felt his phone vibrate in his pocket as he wondered who was texting him at this moment. Unfortunately, he can't respond as he's a bit preoccupied dealing with these monsters.

*Bzzt*

Another message? He stopped for a moment as he gripped his pocket where his phone was. He shook his head and focused on the mission first.

"Commandant. So far there's only been weaker enemies to deal with. Nothing difficult." Lucia reported as she went by his side.

"Weak? Or are you guys just strong?" The Commandant complimented. "Keep up the good work." He patted Lucia on her shoulder as he saw her nod with a smile.
