BIBLE
"I can't believe you don't have wine or any grown-up drinks in this big house."
Jeff glares into my direction when I complain. "Alcohol is bad, water is good."
"For kids..."
"Drink your damn water and shut up."
I smile behind my glass, hiding how much I love it when he orders me about. I mean, I am a very competitive person who hates loosing but with him, I'd happily relinquish control.
"What's in schedule tomorrow?" he asks when I let out a yawn.
"Hmm, let me see," I say digging into my mind for information my manager fed me just this afternoon but I come black. I remember his mouth moving but not much was getting to my mind. "Shit, I don't remember."
"Call your manager and ask him, meanwhile, I'll clear the table."
I decide instead to text the man and it's only fair that he scolds me for not listening. Turns out I have a really busy day tomorrow including a radio interview first thing in the morning.
Shit, I would have missed that.
"So, when does your day start?" Jeff asks from behind me, peeking into my phone and I take in deep breaths, committing his scent to memory. He is freshly showered but he smells just as good as he always does, if not better.
"I..."
"Mmh, looks like you have a show at seven in the morning."
I don't understand what he's saying with him standing so close, breathing softly into my neck.
Fuck! Now I'm hard.
I swallow back the need to turn a little to the side and let lips meet. I did promise him that I wouldn't make the first move and I intend to keep that promise eve though it's killing me on the inside to stay away.
"Bib?"
"Hmm," I turn quickly and our eyes meet. Jeff really has pretty eyes and it was one of the first things about him that made me fall. "Did you say something?"
"Yeah, I asked... wait, why are your hands shaking?"
I look down to where my hands are gripping my phone and yes, they are literally shaking.
Wow, I've literally gone back to being a nervous teen. I'm always so confident and so self assured and yet...
"I need to go," I say pushing back from the chair and it almost tips and falls. "thanks for the dinner..."
"Bible, wait, you can't leave like this, you don't look so well."
No, I don't feel well either. My body is burning up and I can hardly breath. I can't stay here.
I start for the door but he grabs me and it's like I've been burnt. I shrug off his grip and push away from him.
"I'm sorry, I'll text you when I get home. Okay?" I reach for the door knob and try to open it but my hands are too sweaty and they keep slipping.
What the hell is this?
"Just stay here for the night, Bible. I'll lend you my clothes tomorrow and..."
"I can't stay Jeff. I can't stay here and keep my promise."
"What promise," he asks, a confused look on his face.
"The promise to not touch you," I say, letting out a relieved sigh when I finally grasp the door knob.
"Bible..."
