Miraleigh had music playing through her ears, they were getting much closer to the border of Mexico and the teens soon started to realise that they were in fact going to Mexico. Miraleigh didn't know what made Johnny want to come down here, but this random journey was a nice escape from all the karate drama. Silver turned Cobra Kai into a fast-moving business chain, her father was a sensei of the dojo and as far as she knew Kreese was in prison.
After their trip, Robby was looking forward to spending the summer with Miraleigh, he was looking forward to going to the beach, swimming around and relaxing just with her. He wanted this summer to be a break for the both of them. Robby spoke with his father more, he got to rekindle his relationship with Miraleigh, it was going better for him and he was thankful for the people he had at his side.
Robby waited outside as both Johnny and Miraleigh went into the store, his father came out and handed him a shirt which he didn't exactly know how to react to. The shirt that Johnny gave him, was a bit of a shocker and his dad had weird ways of bonding but this was just weird in general. He gave his dad a polite, unsure smile and fold the shirt up before placing it in the back.
"So, what are we actually doing here? Don't say it's a father-son bonding thing. We could've done that 500 miles ago."
"Look this is a father-son bonding thing. There's just something I have to take care of first." Robby nodded to his father's words, then smiled as Miraleigh walked over to them both, he grabbed her hand and stared up at her in adoration.
"You okay?" He questioned, his eyes shooting down to the bag in her hands, the girl nodded and gave him a faint smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just waiting for 'it' to come." Robby nodded, understanding what she meant and gave her a reassuring smile.
"It'll be fine, we'll take it easy then, you got your iron tablets with you?" The girl nodded, humming softly as he hugged her and moved to sit in the back of the van with her. Miraleigh had never been out of America and so doing this was great, she loved seeing new places and finally being out of somewhere she wasn't exactly fond of.
But this trip wasn't exactly what she'd hoped for, in fact, she was pissed with Johnny and clearly, Robby was too. It hurt her, that Johnny only took them down to Mexico just to get Miguel. Sure, she understood why he was doing this but to drag them down? Not right, especially with the shit that's happened between it all.
"You have every reason to be upset." Johnny started, trying to defuse the situation, knowing how shitty it's gonna get.
"How could you take us to Mexico and not mention once we're coming to get Miguel? 'Come on Robby, let's go to Mexico, bring Miraleigh and we'll all come back with some stories.'" Robby ranted, shaking his head, staring at the road with irritation.
"I wasn't bullshitting you. I wanna fix our relationship. When I heard Miguel was in trouble, I had to do something. Look, we both talked about you moving back home with me and I didn't just want to say that to you and then just leave. I'm done doing stuff like that. Besides I need your help to find Miguel."
"My help? Do you even have a plan?"
"Yeah, of course, I do. Miguel's looking for Hector Salazar, I know where the kid gets off the bus. That's our first stop."
"When we get there, what do you plan on doing?"
"I'll ask around if anyone saw Miguel." Miraleigh groaned at the 'thoughtfulness' of Johnny's plan, shaking her head in embarrassment.
"Oh my god." She mumbled, biting on the knuckle of her finger.
"That's the big plan?" Robby stared at his father as if he had two heads, his plan was awful and had the Johnny trademark all over it.
"Of course not. We come up dry, I'll check up the Mexican phone boo.
"Oh my God. You drove us a thousand miles to check a phone book? Might as well put Miguel's face on a milk carton."
"They still do that?" Miraleigh slouched in her seat, shaking her head at the conversation and how clueless Johnny was about teenagers that weren't Miguel.
"Miraleigh and I could be at home right now. Coming with you was a mistake."
"Alright, I'm sorry, okay? I thought this trip would help you and Miguel get over your shit. When we get to the bus station, if you wanna buy a ticket home, you can. I don't want you to go home but-"
"Dad! Watch out!" Miraleigh clutched her seatbelt as they skidded into the dirt, trying to dodge the car that Johnny didn't see. She took deep breaths as she relaxed from the stress that took over her. Robby turned back to look at her, he placed a hand on her knee and just gave her a comforting look, trying to look after her and make sure she was fine from what just happened. Miraleigh sat in the car as they fixed their problem, the two were talking about their shit and acknowledging more about each other after the shitty times they both experienced during Robby's hiding phase.
"You doing alright?" He questioned, smiling gently at Miraleigh, she nodded and took his hand into hers.
"I'm fine, you?" He nodded, kissed her lips and caressed her cheek. Robby kissed her forehead, smiled softly at her and gave a reassuring smile.
"Annoyed, frustrated with him and annoyed that he dragged us all the way out here for nothing."
"Well, you and I can have a fabulous time back home watching random shit on the tv and getting away from all this crap. Plus, the bus ride home will be interesting, you know teen romance stories and shit. One day, someone will write it." Robby grinned at her words, then took her hands and smiled.
"Well, that person will be you, I know how much you love writing. You need to do it sometime, start back up again." Miraleigh was certainly tempted to start writing again, so she smiled and nodded.
They drove to the spot Miguel was meant to have gotten off, Robby gave the two teens some cash so they could get some snacks and the tickets for the bus ride home. Miraleigh hummed as Robby wrapped an arm around her waist, the girl kissed Robby's cheek and stared at the ocean.
