two months later

"Leah! You're gonna be late!" Niamh shouted up the stairs to her girlfriend who had been taking a suspiciously long amount of time getting herself ready for her first training session back at England in preparation for the Euro's alongside the upcoming Arnold Clark Cup.

"I'm ready, christ." Leah said in a stern tone which shocked Niamh and caused her eyebrows to knit together in confusion.

"Are you okay? You seem a little tense." Niamh queried gently, placing a hand on Leah's upper arm as she grabbed the last of her things.

Leah shrugged off Niamh's hand and huffed loudly, "I'm fine, Niamh. See you later."

And with that, Leah was gone, slamming the door behind her as she did. This, of course, prompted Amanda to pop her head around the door to see the commotion. "She alright?"

Niamh shrugged sadly, still in shock, and made her way toward Amanda, "I shouted her, saying she was gonna be late and she comes down like that. I try ask her what's up and she just blanks me and storms out?" Niamh said in a questioning tone, trying to make sense of the events that had happened momentarily ago.

Amanda pulled her eyebrows together and a frown spread across her face, "That's odd for Leah. She's not usually like that."

"What do I do?" Niamh asked sadly, her face expressing a solemn look and her eyes starting to water.

"Oh Niamh, don't worry about it and definitely do not cry, darling." Amanda began, wrapping her arms around Niamh, "There's nothing you, nor I, can do until she's home so try forget it for now. When she's home, if she's still like that, I'll try talk to her."

"Thank you, Amanda." Niamh sniffled slightly.

"Anytime, sweetheart." She kissed the top of Niamh's head and resumed her work that was displayed on her laptop.

Amanda had become like a second mum to Niamh due to the time she'd spend at the Williamson house. Similarly, Lisa had become another motherly figure to Leah, also. They knew they could trust the two with anything, always had the best advice and knew what their hearts hid. Mum's were truly astronomical.

"You're mum's coming round in a bit, stay and chat with us" Amanda said, tilting her head to look at Niamh who smiled weakly.

"I'd like that."

Niamh had spent her day in utter boredom, trying to distract her mind from Leah and the events that morning but, all failed. Even chatting with her mother and Amanda couldn't fully distract her and she hated it yet, caused her to feel torn at the same time. The constant thoughts showed how much she had fallen for Leah. How much she loved Leah, even.

The 'L Word' hadn't been said by either of them yet, despite them both feeling it. Niamh, nor Leah, tried to find moments, wanting it to be a special thing, yet failed. Niamh knew she had fallen in love a long time ago yet, only realised recently. The endless nights spent talking with one another, the nights out, the sleepovers, everything made Niamh realise she was head over heels, in love with Leah Williamson.
