newport pagnell, milton keynesNiamh hadn't left Leah's side as soon as she got to the hospital twelve hours ago. Wanting to be there for her, Niamh ensured everything that Leah did wasn't going to hurt her nor cause her any discomfort. Niamh had always had others' best interests at heart and, when it came to Leah this was only amplified.
flashback
Niamh rushed through the door of the hospital and toward the reception desk, "Williamson. Leah. Leah Williamson." She stammered out, lacking control over her breathing.
The receptionist sneered to herself at Niamh's flushed state and opened her mouth, "Relationship to her?"
Niamh whipped her head to face her and furrowed her brows in confusion, "Fiancée!" She raised her voice frantically, raising her hand to show the ring on her finger.
The woman behind the desk only raised her eyebrows and pointed her down the hall to which Niamh rolled her eyes at her lack of patience.
As her feet resumed the pace they were before, her head scanning the area of the ward until she saw Leah's physio escorting her out in a boot and crutches to which her heart twitched at.
Leah's face lit up at the sight of Niamh down the hall and butterflies swarmed her stomach. Niamh dropped her eyes in disappointment to actually see Leah in the state she was in and a face of compassion and sympathy crossed her face to which Leah laughed at.
"Don't even give me that look." She said in a playful annoyance.
"Shit just got real." Niamh sighed as she wrapped her arms around Leah's neck and pecked her lips gently, "How you feeling?"
"Shit." Was all Leah said, obviously feeling down.
"If she gets the rest she needs," The physio said to Leah, glaring at her sarcastically, "She'll be back doing what she loves soon."
Niamh's smile grew back lightly, still knowing it would be a while until Leah could play properly again, "Thank you."
"Are you taking her home?" The physio asked with concern.
"Yeah, I drove. Don't worry I'll make sure she doesn't do anything." Niamh laughed.
Despite the rather up-beat conversation, Leah had zoned out in a state of disbelief, disappointment, anger and upset at her current state. However, she knew that her family and Niamh would be there for her in every step of her recovery.
"Leah? Are you alright in there?" Niamh asked with a swift knock, concerned for Leah who had been in the bathroom for about ten minutes.
"I'm fine, Niamh. I just had to wash my face and do all that stuff." Leah laughed to herself.
Just as Niamh opened her mouth to speak, Leah opened the door and hobbled out on her crutches, Niamh following behind.
The two had spent even longer with one another after Leah's injury, and they adored it; doing everything together every day brought the two so much joy and happiness. They'd never known a feeling like it, and they both knew this was how they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. Well, with Leah without a boot on her foot, of course.
