puerto del carmen, lanzarote

As the sounds of peace, serenity and contentment washed through the crystal waters of Puerto Del Carmen's beach, the fiery orb of a sun gradually recedes into said waters. Consisting of an assortment of shades- a blend of reds, oranges and yellows- the sky created said colours amongst the water below. As Niamh and Leah walked through the sand, hands intertwined, they could not feel more content with one another if they tried. They had everything they had ever wanted; happiness, health, and each other.

Just as another gentle crash hit the sand, Leah looked up from her feet to see Niamh gazing off into the sunset, to which she smiled and hummed to herself, catching Niamh's attention, "You okay?"

Leah smiled, "You look so happy, Niamh."

Niamh took in a breath; she'd never really stopped to appreciate how happy she was, is, and has been for the last year since meeting Leah. Everything had gone so quickly, yet also so slowly at the same time, that Niamh hadn't gotten a moment like this to really, deeply take all of it in.

She exhaled, still gazing into the sunset and distance ahead of her, "I am happy, Leah. The happiest." She paused, "I guess, I've just never had the chance to realise it."

"How'd you mean?" Leah asked, tightening her grip on Niamh's hand ever so slightly.

She finally pulled her gaze away from the scene ahead of her, and diverted her attention to Leah, who walked so gracefully close next to her, "I just mean, everything that's happened with you, everything I'd ever dreamed of all happened in the click of a finger."

Niamh paused and took in another breath, becoming even more at peace with herself before she continued, "I am so grateful for our story and us, Leah, and now I've really been given time to digest each extraordinary moment we've shared."

As Niamh spoke, a smile crept upon Leah's face as she watched her closely, lovingly gazing at her as she remained close beside her. A moment of silence passed between them when Niamh finished, simply taking in their surroundings at that very moment; realising they had everything they had both been waiting for.

As the sand cushioned their feet, Niamh came to a gentle halt, stopping to observe the waters in front of her, Leah following behind, "It's so gorgeous, isn't it?"

"Yeah," Leah began, "It is." She finished, gazing at Niamh so lovingly, unbeknown to her as her gaze continued to fixate on the ocean and the descending sun.

Niamh's head turned and she took both of Leah's hands in hers and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips, "I love you." She whispered, "With everything I am, and everything I'll ever be."

Leah brought one of her hands to Niamh's face to cup it gently, "I love you a whole lot more, my love." Leah replied,

"Forever."

Leah had booked a stunning ocean-view restaurant for the evening, one with gorgeous food and the best view to accompany it. To Leah, Niamh was everything, and she knew she didn't have to do anything as special as this to impress her or prove her love, but, it was something about seeing Niamh's face light up everytime Leah did something extra special, that she loved. Leah knew that Niamh Yates would love her no less if she had not a single penny to spare, yet that's what made loving her so special to Leah.

The two laughed and smiled over an incredible meal, and were now happily drinking their champagne overlooking the evening sea. Faint echoes of music could be heard coming from the main strip, yet, the two felt they were the only ones alive in that moment.

As they softly gazed into one another's eyes, Niamh inhaled deeply before sipping her beverage and propping herself up on her elbows, "New Year's resolutions: hit me." She spoke.

Leah laughed softly, "Hmm, I have a few." She replied, "For starters, try not to injure myself as much-"

Niamh interrupted, "Leah, you can't have that as your New Year's resolution, for fuck's sake." She laughed.

"Oi, I have more..." Leah said playfully.

Niamh laughed, "Okay..." She paused for dramatic effect, "And those are?" She laughed.

Leah paused for a brief moment, watching Niamh laugh and giggle to herself, as she tossed her hair from one side to another, looking so effortlessly beautiful.

"I'm going to marry you, start a family with you." Leah spoke in a more serious tone.

Taking Niamh by surprise, she widened her eyes slightly in shock, "Oh. Wow."

"Yep. There you have it." Leah spoke, grabbing Niamh's hand.

"You really want to?" Niamh asked softly, feeling Leah draw circles onto her fingers.

"I wouldn't have put a ring on you if I didn't, Niamh." Leah joked.

"I know, I know! I just didn't know how soon you wanted." Niamh finished gently.

"However soon you want it, darling. You're my life, and I can't wait to live it with you. Whenever you're ready Niamhy." Leah spoke lovingly to Niamh, never breaking their gazing eye contact.

"You drive me crazy, you know?" Niamh giggled before leaning in to kiss Leah once more, "I don't want to waste another second before I marry you." She smiled.

Leah smiled too, bringing her lips to Niamh's, tasting the faint scent of champagne on her lips, effortlessly blending with Niamh's cherry lip balm.

"So, when can I become Mrs Williamson and start having your babies?" Niamh laughed.
