Tuesday,
September 14th."I hate her," Sirius muttered, watching Remus leave the great hall after exchanging a few harsh words with his girlfriend.
"Who doesn't?" James sighed, tiredly flipping a page from his book. He took another bite of his cereal, ignoring the inquiring look he received from Sirius.
"You dont like her?" Sirius bit back a smile, excitement rising in his skin. James looked up at him with an annoyed look on his face.
"She never leaves him alone, I mean she was fine at first, but now the only time we see him is when he's pissed off because of her," James ranted.
"I think shes okay, they're a new couple, of course they're gonna argue a little," Peter muttered through a mouthful of toast, "also Remus is just an angry person."
"They've been dating for almost a year," James practically shouted, "AND, Remus is not an angry person, theres just many people who make him mad."
"Around the full moon he is kinda an ass-"
"Shut up Peter," James and Sirius hissed at the same time. The table wasn't the same with Remus' absence. This was the first day in weeks that he hadn't sat with them, so they couldnt really be angry with him.
"You're never with your girlfriend and you guys are doing just fine," James added, poking at his plate.
"We broke up."
"Exactly why you shouldn't be talking about peoples relationships," Sirius rolled his eyes. Peter looked down at his plate with a face so red you could mistake him for a tomato.
"I'm going to hogsmeade today, do you want to come," James asked without looking up from the page he was reading.
"Didn't we go like two days ago?" Sirius responded.
"Yeah, but Lily said a couple Ravenclaws are throwing together a halloween party, I wanna get a costume early."
"Sounds like fun," he yawned in return, completely ignoring the fact that Peter had just got up from the table.
"Alright, well I'm off," James stood up abruptly, "you should eat something."
He tossed a clementine in Sirius' direction, leaving him at a loss for words. Had Remus told James about their encounter? Or was the citrusy fruit just something that happened to be an ongoing occurrence?
During potions class after breakfast, Sirius was rendered partnerless by Peter, who was still pissed off about what he and James had said to him at breakfast that morning. Sirius sat with James, his new partner and Peter sat with James' old one, Remus.
"Wheres your quill," James asked in a monotone voice. Sirius searched his bag for it, eventually coming to the conclusion that he had left it in the library the night before.
"I'll get Remus'," he hummed, making his way to Remus.
"Hey Rem, can I borrow your quill for a bit?" Sirius spoke directly to him for the first time in a while. Remus looked up from his work with a look of surprise on his face.
Sirius had been ignoring him since he had gotten the untimely boner while Remus had him pinned to the bed. He would never find out if Remus had even noticed, but he was embarrassed by it nonetheless.
"Yeah sure," he handed it to him almost grateful that they had finally spoken after days of silence. Sirius accepted it and then headed back to his partner across the class.
After only one class with Remus' quill he had lost it. James was sure that Peter had stolen it just to turn Remus against them, but that was only a theory.
