November 8th

"This is so wrong," Katherine huffed into his ear, it was easy for him to see the excitement on her, even in the darkness. She pressed her rosy colored lips onto Remus' again, pushing him against the back wall of the broom closet they had situated themselves in.

He wasn't particularly proud of kissing a girl with a boyfriend, specifically his crazy ex-girlfriend, but he was beginning to lose track of why he had started talking to her again in the first place. His excuses started piling up but the only one that could sum up his spontaneous actions, would be the fact that they were only a few days away from the full moon.

Around the full moon, Remus got more restless and hungry to be touched, so when she had pulled him into the broom closet and kissed him during his prefect rounds, he wasn't particularly opposed. In fact, he was enjoying the sensation her hands on his neck was producing within his body, a touch that he hadn't felt in a while.

Remus let his hands linger on the small of her back, kissing her back just as fiercely as he had kissed the masked stranger, or Sirius to be perfectly clear, on Halloween night. A shiver went down his spine when he began thinking of Sirius, and he resented himself for it. They were meant to be friends and friends don't kiss each other.

The more he thought of Sirius, the more disgusted with himself he became while kissing Katherine. It really was a shame that he had let his self control slip so much that he was now kissing her in a broom closet of all places.

While Remus was busy with Katherine' pokey tongue, James and Sirius giggled outside the closet door, thinking that they were about to embarrass a couple of fifth years. Remus, unfortunately, couldn't hear these giggles over the sound of Katherines heavy breaths between the entanglement of their lips, but even if he had, there was no where to run

James tore open the door at their expense and all four of them froze at once. The air was still and Remus needed a moment to understand what exactly had just happened. Katherine was the first to move, rushing out of the broom closet and down the hall, she couldn't have anyone knowing that she had been cheating on her second boyfriend.

"You slut," James gasped, watching Katherine as she ran away. It was hard to tell how Remus' friends were truly feeling in that moment because they were still in shock. The closet was hot and he was beginning to feel lightheaded, but the two of them blocked him in.

"Merlin," Sirius brought his hands up to his hair, looking a tad distressed at the situation. Of course, neither of his roommates were going to take it well, especially after they had to deal with her for a whole year of their relationship.

"Its nothing," he finally spoke, rosy cheeked. To confirm this, he wiped his damp lips onto the sleeve of his uniform.

"You're such a dog," The brunette tutted once more, looking suddenly disappointed, "Katherine? And what are you doing in the broom closet of all places?"

Something very notable about James, was that his voice went up a few octaves when he got angry, but he never rose his voice. Remus had nothing else to say, there was no way for him to explain himself, especially when he himself didn't understand why he was doing these things in the first place. He shoved his way through the two of them and began his way down the hall in a quick place.

Though he had no right to be mad, he didn't know how else to act in this situation. It was hard to be misunderstood, but to his roommates, it was as clear as day what was going on between him and Katherine. They followed after him, a bit slower with Sirius' hobble, but still just as angry.

The dorm that night had become a tightrope for Remus to walk on. He tiptoed through words, careful not to trigger a poke at what had happened.

"Remus, shut off the lights," Sirius practically ordered him to. After finding out about Remus and Katherine, Sirius now had something to hold over his head for the first time in a while.

"You do it," Remus yawned, stretching out like a cat in his bed. The dark haired boy sat up irritably, glaring daggers in Remus' direction.

"Are you tired Remus?" he questioned. A nervous chuckle came from Peters bed; he had no idea what Sirius was talking about and Remus was going to keep it that way.

"What?" Remus scoffed, forgetting about what had happened that afternoon for only a moment. The sheets rustled in James' bed, a fair sign that he was bound to join the conversation.

"Well I was only asking because all of that time crammed in broom closets surely can't be good for your health," The dark haired boy responded. It finally dawned on Remus that he was going to have to suck up to Sirius and perhaps even James if he wanted them to forgive him

"Yeah, was it Katherines idea?" James furrowed his brow. His glasses were off so he looked like a different person, almost even alienlike.

 "I'll get the lights."

The next day, James was off at quidditch practice and Sirius was stuck in the dorm with Remus because his leg was still recovering. Still, it felt much more like Remus was stuck in the dorm with Sirius, but he needed to get work done and visiting Katherine in the library wasn't very appealing to him.

"Why are you seeing Katherine again," Sirius kept his voice neutral, sitting on the edge of his bed like he was still deciding where the conversation was going to go. A moment of silence followed as Remus gathered his thoughts.

"I missed her," Remus lied, focusing on the pieces of parchment that lay on the desk before him. The wind circling through the room was blowing his pages around, eventually he had to set his glass of ink on them.

"That is such a lie, Remus," Sirius sighed, getting up from where he was sitting and taking a couple slow steps so he could stand behind where Remus sat.

"Believe what you want to, I just missed her," Remus muttered, dipping his quill into the dark ink. the conversation was starting to feel one sided and Sirius was getting bored with Remus' company.

"She made you miserable," he declared, his attempt at stirring the pot. The boy in the chair stiffened his shoulders slightly at the accusation.

"Sirius, it was you that suggested we be friends, and that is what I am trying to do, but you are making it so difficult," Remus sniffed, keeping his eyes on his writing and talking slowly like he wasn't just bothered by the air Sirius breathed.

"You didn't want to be more than friends, I was suggesting we stopped fighting."

 "Yet here we are."

"We are not fighting," Sirius scoffed, taking a seat in the chair a couple paces away from Remus. The other boy didn't respond, so Sirius took the initiative.

"I thought you didn't want to hide, and that's why we couldn't... but it seems like you're still hiding in broom closets," Sirius continued, looking down at his feet. Another sniff came from Remus, but this one was taken with an air of superiority.

"I didn't want to be with you, Sirius. Grow up," Remus hated himself for saying it, but he simply couldn't explain things, and it would be better if Sirius avoided him for just a little while.

"You're the stupid one for slumming it with Katherine of all people just so people don't look at you a little weird, who are you kidding?" Sirius' walls were brought up again and he stood up from his seat and hobbled his way out the door, probably to linger in the common room for a while longer until James got back.

The words Sirius had stung him with were true. Even while he was kissing this girl that he had thought he liked, he was thinking of the boy in his dormitory. He couldn't even convince himself that he didn't want Sirius.

Honestly, Who was he kidding?
