Friday,
October 8thThe day was like any other. Remus woke up later than James and before everyone else. He climbed out of bed tiredly and waddled his way over the bathroom.
His plan was to eat breakfast, and catch up on some reading he had left over from homework the night before. That afternoon there was a kickoff game, so Remus wanted to have a slow day to lead up to it.
As he finished getting ready, he heard a knock on the bathroom door. With one hand he zipped up his trousers and with the other he opened the door.
"I need to shower, are you done?" Peter rubbed his eyes, his hair sticking up at every angle.
"Yeah, make sure to wake up Sirius before you come down," Remus muttered, moving past him swiftly. The tired boy with the messy hair hummed in agreement, Remus leaving shortly after.
It was only when he reached the dining hall that he realized he had forgotten his book he had planned on reading.
Irritably, he walked between the long rows of tables with different coloured tablecloths marking the houses, and kept an eye out for any familiar people.
Lily was seated across from Marlene and Mary, her nose already in the same book Remus had to read for one of his classes that afternoon. He took a seat beside Lily and took note of the eerie silence between the girls.
It was normal for Lily to be quiet, because she was reading, but Mary and Marlene seemed to be giving each other the silent treatment. Remus decided to ask Lily about it later.
"Has anyone seen James?" Remus furrowed his brow, he had thought that he was eating breakfast but of course he was nowhere to be seen.
"He's with Mcgonagall," The two girls seated across from him spoke at the same time. Marlene then swatted at Mary.
"Stop talking over me," she narrowed her eyes casting her a flaming stare. It was at this time that Lily peeked over her book and gave them both an annoyed look.
"Could you two stop fighting for like ten minutes," the fiery red head spoke quickly. Mary and Marlene went quiet for a moment and Lily let out an exhausted sigh.
"I heard you and Katherine broke up," Mary grinned, facing Remus directly. The blonde beside her slapped her on the arm.
"Thats not a nice thing to bring up," she chastised.
"Its fine, we just had a little arguement," Remus looked anywhere but it Mary's eyes. Their sad looks made Remus uncomfortable, because they knew for certain that he deserved better.
"What happened?" Mary continued, she always hated Katherine, much like Sirius did. It was Lily's turn to give Mary the harsh look.
"Not even James knows, why would he tell us?" the red head hissed like Remus wasn't sitting right beside her. She then turned to Remus with a sad look on her face.
"James is really worried about you, he cares about you a lot," Lily remarked. This was something that he had already known, but he had chosen to ignore.
Mary's gaze shifted towards the entrance to the great hall, "speaking of James, there he is."
Everyone's attention shifted to the three boys now entering the great hall. It would've been nothing out of the ordinary to see them walking in, if Sirius wasn't wearing Remus' jumper.
Nobody else seemed to notice or even really care, but Remus' eyes were twitching with a need for him. Sirius wore his own pyjamas to breakfast often, but now he was wearing Remus' wool sweater, and upon further inspection, his sweatpants too.
