Thursday,
October 14thAs the week neared its end, with Remus only getting more distant, Sirius Black was dying to talk to him. More specifically about special preparations that included Remus, but they still had yet to inform him.
The short hand on the clock was nearing twelve, but the four boys sat on the couches of the Gryffindor common room and had no intentions of sleeping just yet. Although, Peter looked tired enough to sleep for a year.
Remus could sense Sirius' eyes watching his every move but still, every time he looked up he wasn't even facing his direction. They had been left on an awkward note since Monday night when Remus had grown close to tears upon Sirius' confrontation. Neither of them had initiated a conversation in a long while.
"I'm going for a walk," Remus decided, standing up from the couch and leaving his homework on the common room table. He made his way towards the portrait hole in a slow walk, padding down his pockets to make sure he hadn't forgotten his cigarettes.
His movements were executed ever so casually, but he was really scheming something. The late night walk was really just a ploy for him to meet up with the Slytherin boy, Gideon Doyle.
Apparently, he had something very important he needed to tell Remus in regards to his cheating girlfriend, as he had expressed ever so enthusiastically during their first class of the day.
"Need the cloak?" James asked monotonously. His sleepy head was resting on the arm of his chair as he stared directly into the fire like it held all the secrets to the world.
"I should be okay," Remus shrugged, turning on his heel to answer any other inquiries that might spring up. To his surprise, the dark haired frenchie peeked his head over the back of the couch.
"I'll go with you, I need move a bit," Sirius looked at Remus like he was a Christmas gift he was just waiting to tear apart. He threw himself over the back of the couch effortlessly and made his way towards the portrait hole himself before Remus could protest.
This was odd. What was he up to?
Remus nodded slowly, heading after him. Sirius slowed down a bit to match his pace, the two of them fully synced once they reached the dimly lit corridor outside of the Gryffindor tower.
They didn't talk much for the last couple days, so Remus had naturally assumed that Sirius was mad at him. Perhaps he really wanted to just go for a walk.
"Remus, can we talk?" Sirius hummed once they made it a little ways away from the Gryffindor tower. There was always a deeper reason as to why Sirius did things.
"What about?" Remus replied, staring straight ahead rather than at Sirius. He was growing nervous with the way that Sirius spoke, and he was afraid that the conversation would be negative.
"So, this might be a little early to ask, but, there's a full moon near the end of next month, correct?" Sirius began, excitement dancing in his eyes. His voice was a little too loud for Remus' liking as he spoke of his condition.
Remus looked around quickly to make sure no one was listening before he pulled Sirius behind a curtain that shielded a hidden passageway.
"So?" He asked, slipping through the threshold. Sirius followed in suit, entering the poorly lit hallway.
"So! You also have prefect duty at 6pm on every second Friday. That's leaves us with a cramped schedule. Before we leave for Christmas break the last Friday of November we want to pull one last prank, but we need your help, as a prefect," Sirius explained quickly.
"Did you stalk my schedule?"
"Maybe. And because of Christmas break we have to do it then-"
"No. Its too dangerous. You wouldn't be safe if-" he paused with a wince, refraining from finishing that sentence. Sirius listened intensely.
