October 17th

"Fuck you," a sharp voice snapped, waking Remus up from his slumber. The first thing he noticed was the immense aching throughout his full body after the full moon.

"Shut up, he's awake," James hushed frightfully. It took much effort for Remus to open his eyes, but when he did, he was met with a blurry visual of his three roommates sat by his side.

They stared at him eagerly, each one of them carrying a different expression. When Remus' eyes fully adjusted to the setting he noticed the rawness underneath Peter's eyes like he had been crying and a concerning shiner over his eye.

"How are you feeling?" James furrowed his brow acting casual, but deep down Remus knew that something else was happening.

"Peter are you alright," he ignored James' question and sat up quickly, ignoring the sharp pains that shot up his spine. Sirius put his hand on Remus' shoulder to steady him.

"Lay back down, he's fine," Sirius looked like he had gotten himself into a fight as well. A sickening feeling overcame Remus and he felt his skin go a little cold.

"What's going on?" he let out weakly, laying back down. Silence followed his question.

"Can you give us a sec," Sirius looked at James. Something wasn't right and it definitely was something that Remus wasn't going to be happy about.

Peter followed after him and the two of them obediently left the closeted area surrounding Remus' hospital bed. For a moment all Remus could hear was the sound of the clock ticking above his bed and Sirius' uneven breaths.

"Quit it with the suspense, just tell me whats going on," Remus' voice broke slightly and he nit his brow with the pain of his new scars striking through him.

"You were talking about me in your sleep," Sirius looked at the ground, his face expressionless. A pang of fear now overcame Remus and he worried that he was going to have a heart attack.

"Piss off," he rolled his eyes, hoping that it was just a stupid joke.

"Ok fine, I'm joking, but I got in a fight with Peter," he didn't look proud of it, but he didnt seem to hold any regrets either. Inspecting further, there was a cut on Sirius' lower lip and a bruise forming on the apple of his cheek.

"Did you hit him?" the stress of missing out was driving Remus crazy and he wanted to climb out of the hospital wing and go back to their room.

"He said I was dirty," Sirius muttered, playing with Remus' fingers to distract himself. He seemed genuinely hurt by this.

"Just tell me what happened," He tiredly grasped Sirius' hand.

"Well, after you left with poppy, I noticed Peter had been acting odd for a bit so I asked him about it. he said that he knew about us," Sirius whispered.

//

"Bullshit, where did you hear that from," Sirius scoffed at the accusation. He felt his heart race faster at the mere thought of being discovered.

"Katherine came in here, called him a fruit and stuff a couple mornings ago. She said that you guys had sex," Peter shrugged.

"Sex? It's not true."

"Remus, admitted it," Peter stared at him blankly as he flipped the pages of his schoolwork.

"just drop it."

"Mhm," he shrugged, looking at the book and then looking back up at Sirius, "my mom says people like you are dirty."

"Fuck your mom," Sirius shouted at him, fed up with his behavior. The shorter boy looked like he had just taken a slap to the face.

Perhaps the only reason Peter had said it was to hurt Sirius because he had hurt him too many times before. It wasn't even a second after Sirius had said that, that Peter dropped what he was doing and shouted back.

"Maybe if yours wasn't so crazy, you wouldnt be such a fag," Peter yelled back, earning himself a fist in the face. Sirius was overcome by emotion as he swung at Peter even as he was on the ground and crying for him to stop.

If james hadnt walked in Sirius probably would have killed him. James, stronger than the two of them, pulled Sirius away with ease and punched him across the face with enough force to knockout a grown man.

"What the fuck is wrong with you," James shouted, pushing him away from the boy sobbing and bloody on the floor.

//

"Sirius," Remus frowned at him, understanding how terrible he probably felt. A tear fell down Sirius' cheek and Remus felt helpless as he watched.

James was like his brother, and to have him yell at him like that probably broke Sirius' heart. He wiped the tears away from his eyes but they just kept coming.

"I'm sorry," he dropped his face in his hands, tears streaming down his cheeks. Since the curtains were closed and James and Peter had long since disappeared, Remus moved over in the bed to provide some space for Sirius to join him.

Sirius curled up beside him and wrapped his arms around him carefully, sobbing into his bare chest. They remained like this until Sirius stopped crying and Remus began feeling pain through his body once again.

He ran his fingers through the sleeping boys hair, contemplating what to do next. Peter had been beaten up and so had Sirius, but he knew that James would now be seeking answers from the both of them.

Unfortunately, Remus knew that he would probably consult Lily about it, who would then tell Mary and Marlene, which would then reveal their new years secret.

"Remus," Sirius mumbled, his eyes still shut. The sick boy made an effort to look down at him, a small smile perking up on his lips.

"What?" he hummed in response, pushing Sirius' hair back to see his face better.

"What are we," Sirius spoke into Remus' chest, his lips just inches away from the other boys skin. Silence fell over them.

"Sirius I can't," he retracted his hands, sitting up.

"Why not, I have just as much reason to just walk away from you, but I dont," Sirius furrowed his brow, his expression more hurt than angry. It was true that Sirius' parents would probably have him killed of they had ever heard about it.

"My dad," he shrugged like it was nothing. Sirius was reminded of the purple bruises Remus had all over his stomach the night they had shared together.

It was such a big thing to have forgotten but Sirius had been drunk and there was more important things on his mind.

"Does he hit you?" Sirius bit his lower lip nervously. The nod he received from Remus confirmed his worst fears.

"It was only bad once, but I don't want that to happen again."

"Just come to James' house for the summer, his family would love the company, I can talk to them for you," Sirius gushed, grabbing his arm excitedly.

"It's not just that Sirius," Remus looked down at his hands.

"Well what is it?" His furrowed brow gradually flipped into a narrowed expression.

"Listen, I like kissing you, but I don't like you," The taller boy let out, his eyes still actively avoiding eye contact.

"I'm not waiting around for you," Sirius scoffed, getting up from the bed, "don't come back to me when you get lonely."

Remus bit his tounge and let sirius leave the hospital wing.
