Remus melted through the next day, pondering what to do. He had caught his girlfriend cheating on him in the library.

Never in his life had he felt such a strong, yet, unknown emotion. Classes felt longer than usual with Remus' lack of sleep and the amount of energy he had to exert just to avoid passing by Katherine on his way to class.

He ate breakfast, lunch and supper without anyone questioning his silence, besides Marlene. Sirius and James were stressing over the tryout results that would soon be posted on the bulletin board in their common room.

And Peter had been missing since first period. Remus suspected that he had fallen down a stairwell and he was just recovering in the hospital wing.

"Remus, are you sure you're alright?" Marlene asked, tightening a hand on his bicep as they strode off to the Gryffindor tower after supper.

"I'm fine," Remus rolled his eyes, entering the portrait hole. Marlene walked alongside him dutifully, ignoring his curt response.

"Well, nice to see you too!" The fat lady grumbled from her frame. The portrait closed on the hole behind them, acting as a door.

Maybe Remus was just too angry to even notice the look of jealousy in Katherine's eyes as he entered the Gryffindor tower with Marlene clinging to his arm. Sirius had surely noticed this jealousy with great delight.

But maybe Sirius was too blind to notice that Remus Lupin had a different flame in his eyes when he spotted her seated within their common room. The flame in his eye was none other than pure rage, Marlene noticed him tense up and she quickly caught the look of fury in his eyes.

He was good at hiding his anger when it came to it, this time was no different. He pulled a plastic smile and greeted his girlfriend, giving her a hug and a quick peck on the cheek.

He didn't want to kiss the same lips that Gideon Doyle had been kissing the night before. Remus took a seat beside Sirius who was staring at the situation, amusement dancing in his smile.

How could she cheat, and then come to the Gryffindor tower for a visit? Remus thought to himself.

"Where have you been all afternoon?" Katherine questioned, eyeing Marlene viciously. Remus didn't really know what to say; he had been avoiding her, he walked around the castle with Marlene, but its not like he could tell her that.

"We went to the library, we were studying for a project," Marlene piped up before casually taking a seat at an armchair. Katherine's eye twitched, she looked like she was going to murder Marlene and anyone who stood in her way.

"Well, I think I'm gonna go to bed, I'm a little tired," Remus forced a yawn and got up from his seat, heading upstairs without another word. He could hear footsteps trotting behind him.

He looked over his shoulder and spotted Katherine following him upstairs. Remus opened the door to their dormitory and was immediately met with agressive hands around his waist, fumbling with his belt.

"Katherine," Remus pulled away from her clingy hands, that were just trying to undo his belt. She pouted, reaching out for him again.

He dodged her once more, completely ignoring her saddened look. The moans she had let out with Gideon were something that had been stuck in his head since the night before and they had completely ruined his outlook on her.

"At least give me a goodnight kiss," she whispered sadly. Without response, she grabbed onto his waist and pulled him into a kiss. She was on her tiptoes to keep their lips attached since Remus was not leaning into it.

"Remus?" He heard a weak voice ask from the other side of the room.

"Shit-" Katherine grumbled, pulling away from the kiss. Remus peered around the room trying to spot where the voice was coming from, grateful for the distraction.

Chubby and small, curled in the corner of the room was peter. His hands looked like they were rapidly forming blisters, they dripped a yellow puss.

Remus hid his grimace with a look of concern. He crouched down to get within eye level of Peter and he eyed his hands cautiously.

"Peter? What happened to your hands? C'mon let's go to pomfrey," Remus knit his brow, helping Peter up, trying not to touch his hands.

"Snape- he caught up with me on my way to second period, he was angry with Sirius about something," Peter quivered.

Remus took this as his one way ticket to get away from Katherine. He ushered Peter out of the dorm room and down the steps, leaving a horny and disappointed Katherine alone.

"Remus? That was fast," Sirius snickered from the couch. Remus flipped him off on his way out of the common room his other arm looped around a very shaky Peter.

"Why didn't you go to pomfrey in the first place?" Remus asked, looking down at the boy beside him.

"I thought she would cut my hands off, I thought you would know what to do... you're smart," Peter sniffled, clearly traumatized at the fact that his hands were bubbling like hot caramel.

They neared the hospital wing and Remus opened the door for Peter. Madame Pomfrey looked up from where she was standing, one arm outstretched to hand a student a goblet filled with something smelly.

"Oh dear," she frowned when she saw Peter hands, "what happened?"

"A spell deflected when we were in class," Remus lied breezily. She escorted Peter to one of the beds, leaving Remus behind. Just as the door behind Remus opened, he took a step back to leave, only to get hit on the back.

James, Sirius, Marlene, Mary, Lily and Katherine all came walking in. James apologized to Remus quickly after the door hit him.

"No, no, no, I cant have all of you in here this late at night, go," Madame Pomfrey rounded the corner angrily and waved them out the door.

They all went back out the door and stood in the corridor. Concerned faces looked up at Remus, every one of them holding the same question.

"What happened?" Sirius asked first. Something about his clueless manner made him more frustrated with the people around him.

"Snape was pissed at you for something so he took it out on Peter," Remus huffed, giving Sirius a dirty look. The angry response went unacknowledged by the group surrounding them, everyone used to their bickering by now.

"Oh so that's where he went all day," Mary nodded her head slowly as if she was accepting it. The curly haired blonde opened her mouth to speak and Remus almost began to run away.

"Remus can we talk privately?" Katherine asked, she looked slightly furious with him. The door to the hospital wing opened luckily, Peter leaving with a distressed look on his face.

His hands were in yellow rubber gloves. He looked foolish but nobody was going to mention it, solely because they were focused on the drama happening between the secretive couple before them.

"Alright, let's get to bed, it was nice seeing you Katherine," Lily grabbed Remus' arm and pulled him in the direction of the Gryffindor tower.

Katherine paused for a moment before storming off to the Slytherin common room that remained in the dungeons. Remus sighed in relief, glad to have Lily there.
