Tuesday,
September 1st"Wheres Remus?" James questioned, peeking out the window to look at the platform. The train whistle blew loudly as a sign of their departure, but there was still no sign of their friend.
"He's with Katherine; got on the train with her," Peter shrugged. A full year had passed since Sirius had first arrived at Hogwarts, they were now beginning their last and final year of school and they planned on making the most of it.
Nothing much had changed, except for their relationship with Remus. They talked to him very little, and the only person who ever knew where he had gone was Marlene.
James looked eager to go elsewhere, his knees bouncing and his eyes staring at the door. Once a familiar head of red locks passed by, he sprung up from his seat.
"I need to leave for a minute, I have a prefects meeting," James smiled mischievously, practically jumping to leave their compartment.
Sirius rolled his eyes, knowing damn well that he was running off to see Lily Evans, his new girlfriend. Why was it that all of Sirius' friends now had girlfriends and he didn't?
With James gone, Sirius now had to find a new source of entertainment. His eyes traveled around the compartment searching for anything that he could busy himself with for the next eight hours.
Train rides for Sirius never ended well, so he decided that an adventure to the bathroom would be completely forbidden, even if it cured his boredom. The sliding door opened, signalling the arrival of Mary and Marlene.
"Hey guys," Marlene smiled, her blonde hair having grown much longer and brighter over the summer. She took a seat across from Peter, Mary taking a spot beside her.
"Hey, wheres Remus and James?" Mary inquired, suddenly noticing their absence. She had her dark hair in colourful braids with even brighter beads on the end of each one.
"Off with their girlfriends," Peter scoffed, just as irritated as Sirius was. It was their last year of school and they had just ditched them for some girls.
Peter wouldn't leave his side, even though he had a girlfriend, this was something that Sirius greatly appreciated.
"Right.." Marlene remembered, casting a worried glance towards Sirius. She knew about mostly everything that had happened between him and Remus and she couldn't bear to imagine how terrible Sirius felt seeing him with Katherine
What she didn't know was that Sirius was completely over him; he had spent his summer break sneaking around with the muggle girls in their area and at some point he had eventually forgotten that he and Remus had ever been anything.
An hour later, James returned with Lily in tow, large smiles on both of their faces. Sirius couldn't help but smile back at the young couple because they just seemed so perfect for each other.
James had asked her out over the summer and by sheer dumb luck she said yes. They were so cute together, and it was very rare to see them in an argument.
Lily sat with them at dinner that night once they returned to Hogwarts, a small smile still lingered on her rose colored lips. Mary and Marlene sat with them as well, along with Peter's girlfriend Effie.
Remus sat with them too, his hair a little more darker than Sirius last remembered and his golden eyes looked a little more like honey. His freckles looked more prominent under the tan he had received during the summer; this somehow made him look a couple years younger.
Sirius on the other hand had grown his dark hair a little longer, allowing it to curl behind his ears, he had also received a tattoo on his right shoulder-blade and another just above his right thigh, something that only he and James knew about. A lot had happened in the summer, so much that Remus felt like a stranger to him now.
