12 days until Christmas break,

"Let's go to Hogsmeade, Its Saturday," James urged, trying to lighten the dull mood that had overcome the usually cheery common room. Normally around Christmas, they had music playing and everyone was so happy, but his roommates just had to be drama queens.

Although it didn't seem like it, James was very disappointed that Remus had tried to soil their prank. It was odd seeing Remus grow up and become more serious while he still stayed his same childish self.

"Its snowing outside," Remus mumbled, his eyes glazed over as he read some obscure novel of muggle origin. The old grandfather clock ticked three times before James got antsy again.

"Please, I still need to get my parents gifts," he complained, sitting up on the edge of his seat. A couple more ticks from the old clock; the sound of a quill scratching parchment. The response that awaited wasn't going to be good, and he knew that.

"Go alone," Sirius hummed, cramming his overdue essay onto one measly piece of parchment. That was out of the question, he never did anything alone, ever since he was twelve he and Remus had been glued to the hip and now it was Sirius' turn to take over.

"Peter?" James almost whined, squirming anxiously in his chair. The straight haired blonde boy looked up lazily from where he had situated himself on the floor and shook his head.

Growing up meant that everyone had begun to stress over the little tasks, like a stupid essay, or required reading, but James couldn't accept that. Without saying a word, James gathered his textbooks and got up from his seat.

The three boys watched as he headed upstairs angrily and shut the door of their dorm room behind him. Maybe he was being dramatic, but who could blame him, everyone had begun to talk with the door closed on him, and he had begun to feel left out.

"Someone should go check on him," Remus set down his book with the spine facing up on the coffee table. The fire crackled in the silence that followed, a melody to their ears.

"Not it," Sirius called out quickly, dropping his quill back in his ink jar. It was hard to talk to James when he was upset because his mood was just so contagious.

"Not it," Remus let out, making Peter the one who pulled the short stick. A red faced shake of the head was his response to the order.

"I'm not going up there, I don't know how to talk to him," Peter sat up, worrying his brow. The three of them looked between each other. Somehow the sound of the clock grew louder in the moment of thought.

"Lets go to Hogsmeade, it clearly means a-lot to him," Remus thought out loud, getting up from his seat. A sound of disapproval overcame the two other boys.

"I have to finish this paper," the dark haired boy explained. He was only a paragraph in, and lord only knows how much Professor Mcgonagal is seeking.

"Work on it Sunday, I'll help you," Remus began walking upstairs to see James. After a short period of thought, Sirius agreed and followed him upstairs.

The stairs creaked as the two of them got closer to the dormitory door, probably loud enough for James to hear that they were coming. Hesitantly, Remus entered the messy dorm room to find James laying on his stomach reading a book that he had just recently complained about not liking.

"Lets go to Hogsmeade James," Sirius let out bluntly. The brunette looked up for a second, a smile growing on his lips. He rolled out of bed and happily followed the boys downstairs as if he knew this would happen all along.

Peter seemed to have no interest in this adventure, he would much rather play chess against himself and act miserable. There was still a lingering tension between Sirius and Peter that would probably never be repaired, simply because neither of them had any intent on being friends.
