Untold Pain

Chapter 6

Janella's POV.

"Where have you been?"

I was about to climb the stairs when I heard my father. I looked at my wrist watch and saw that it was already 6:15pm. I was about to say something when Manong Rex cutt me off.

"Medyo traffic po kasi Sir Marvin." Mahinang sabi ni Manong Rex habang pilit na tinatago ako sa likod nya. Dad massaged his temple and glared at Manong Rex. "Sinabi ko na sayo Rex! Hindi sya pwedeng abutan ng gabi sa labas. How many times must I have to tell you that!?" He yelled.

I was trembling when Dad yelled. I took all my courage to step infront of Mr. Rex and spoke to Dad. "I'm sorry dad, something came up so we needed to take my classmate to her house." I quietly said.

Mom please come home.

As if on cue, the door opened revealing Mom.

Thank God.

"What do you think you're doing Marvin?" Binaba nya yung bag nya at tsaka lumapit sakin, she softly looked at me and smiled. "Don't be nervous." She whispered and that made me a little better. She turned her gaze to Dad and glared at him. It's rare to see Mom glaring at someone, pero kung si Dad ang pag uusapan hindi na rare yon dahil lagi nyang ginagawa yon.

Since that day.

The accident.

"Maja, this is between me and my daughter!" Sabi ni Dad habang pinipigilan ang galit nya. Mom scoffed and looked around. "Oh, your daughter? May I remind you Marvin, she is also my daughter, she came from me."

Honestly, I don't want this. Everytime they have an argument it's because of me. Even right now, Dad is mad because of me and Mom was trying to protect me.

I'm ruining this family.

I'm always ruining something.

Mom look at me and smiled. "Manong Rex call Manang Minda and take my daughter to her room." Agad naman sumunod si Manong Rex at wala pang ilang minuto ay dumating na si Manang Minda. Dad tried to take me but Mom wouldn't let him.

Manang Minda is our longest maid here, she said she was here even before Mom and Dad got married, she and Manong Rex were married. Sila din yung tumatayong magulang ko everytime Mom and Dad were busy, hindi lang magulang para na din silang lola and lolo ko since my grandfather rarely come in here.

I'm sure right now Mom and Dad were fighting because of me. Why do I always need to mess up?

Nag umpisa si Dad na magset ng curfew for me since that 'accident' happened. Matapos din yung aksidente na yon hindi ko na sinubukan mag drive ng sasakyan so Manong Rex is always with me. If it isn't him, Dad would be with me.

Dad is my hero you see. He was the most loving person, in fact he was my favorite. Mom is always busy at her work, being attorney wasn't easy. Dad on the other hand would always do everything for me not feel lonely whenever Mom isn't around.

I'm the only daughter. So the pressure is all mine to carry.

My grandfather is a judge. He is also the shareholder in one of the famous Law Firm here in the Philippines. Mom is attorney, she wins most of her cases. Dad is the chairman and shareholder of St. Luke's Medical Center. He is also a opthalmologist. He was also one of the shareholder of our University.

While me? I haven't prove anything to them. I couldn't even make them proud.

I have cousin, yes.

Pero matagal nang inabandona ng pamilya namin sila Ate Glaiza. Hindi sya matanggap ni lolo, even Uncle Jake couldn't accept her, they said she was a disappointment in the family. The only person who could accept her is Auntie Kylie, but she died when Ate Glaiza was only 19 year old, because of brain tumor. Also one reason they couldn't accept them is because Ate Rhian is from orphanage.
