Part 1:
Chapter 9 –
June 18th, 1996
When Sirius got the message that Snivellus had sent, courtesy of his godson, his stomach immediately dropped.
The piece of parchment had blown through the fireplace of 12 Grimmauld place, flying directly into Sirius' hand. Reading it aloud, as Remus sat across from him with a glass of firewhiskey, the two marauders flew from their chairs casting Patronus after Patronus to other members of the Order of the Phoenix.
"Moony, what does this letter mean! I'm here and perfectly fine," Sirius ground out as he paced the room.
Remus tore the letter from his hand, reading over it again.
"This letter is addressed to me Pads," Remus said, "But didn't you say that Voldemort had been getting into Harry's head more often lately?"
Sirius nodded his head as the insinuation that Remus made flew past him.
Wish a sigh, and a shake of his head at his sometimes-dense friend, Remus said, "What if he put an image into Harry's head? An image of you getting hurt?"
A lightbulb went off in Sirius' eyes as the direness of the situation dawned on him. Quickly grabbing his wand off the table, Sirius faced his old friend, "We need to get to the Ministry NOW then! If Harry is anything like his old man, then he's in trouble."
Remus nodded, remember how stubborn and ignorant James could be when it came to his friends and their safety. He reached for the floo powder beside the fireplace's mantel, yelling "MINISTRY OF MAGIC" before stepping forward, hearing his friend do the same behind him.
As the two reached the Ministry, a Patronus in the form of a lynx greeted them.
"The children are on level nine, with a handful of death eaters surrounding them. We'll meet you there," Kingsley Shacklebolt's Patronus said.
Running towards the elevators, the two marauders raced to get the doors shut. Sirius was growing frustrated as the elevator refused to start, pushing the level nine button repeatedly.
"That won't make it go any faster Sirius," Remus growled out, annoyed with the man's actions.
Sighing in frustration, Sirius settled back just as the elevator took off at a fast rate, throwing the men against eachother.
"Get off me, you dog!" Remus yelled, pushing Sirius' large body off him.
Sirius sent Remus a glare before pulling the doors open and racing toward the door at the end of the hall. As he pushed it open slightly, a scent hit him, plastering him in his spot.
"Moony do you smell that?" Sirius asked as her turned towards his friend, sniffing the delicate scent in the air.
Remus gave his friend a stormy look before deciding to humour him. Sirius watched as his friend sniffed the air around them, confusion settling over his features, before he turned back to him.
"It smells like... Lavender and fresh air." Remus whispered, shaking his head. "It's impossible, but if you added nicotine to the scent then it would smell like-"
"Lia. It would smell like Lia," Sirius said, cutting his friend off.
A sad smile graced both of their faces before they shook their thoughts away, turning to enter the room.

As the seven teenagers burst through the doors of the room, Emilia released a huff of breath.
