Part 2:
Chapter 54 –
September 30th, 1980
Sirius played with the box in his pocket nervously as he stepped out of Wiseacre's Wizarding equipment, the velvet material slipping in his hands and depositing itself in the depths of his coat pocket.
He wrapped the scarf tighter around his neck as the cold chill of the wind nipped at his neck. He wasn't too fond of the colder weather, preferring to spend his days in the warmth by the Manors pool as he stared at Lia's bikini clad body.
The thought of Lia spiked his nerves again and he bit his lip in anticipation as he thought of a way to finally ask her to be his forever. He knew without a doubt that it was the right choice, even after all their years together. They fought like cat and dogs – quite an ironic saying if you asked him – and he wanted to strangle her almost every day, in a loving way of course, but he couldn't imagine living a second on this earth without her.
She was the fire that lit up his soul, and the person that balanced his personality out, seeing as she was never scared to tell him off for his troublemaking habits. He was more than ready to take the next step with her and just hoped that she would feel the same.
A small smile crept onto his lips as the thought of her walking towards him in a wedding gown and cursing him out for something he had done that morning. A sudden fluttery feeling in his chest that he had never felt before presented itself, and he had to grasp his chest to stop the pound of his heart.
He walked into Sugarplum's Sweets shop to grab a few chocolate frogs for Remus knowing that he would be on edge for the next few days until the full moon. Grabbing some sugar quills for Lia as well, he paid the attendant before exiting the store.
This trip to Diagon alley left his Gringotts vault lighter but his chest heavier than it was before. He didn't even buy her a new ring, only changing the one that James had given him slightly and yet it still astounded him how expensive jewellery was. He wasn't sure what his plan was to propose yet, but he knew that he wanted to use Harry to do it, knowing that Lia wouldn't be able to resist his face and say no.
They babysat Harry almost every day that Sirius had off to give Lily and James some time alone, seeing as they were constantly holed up in their house with only Harry. They had taken time off from the Order, wanting to focus on their family and Sirius couldn't blame them.
If him and Lia had a child like Harry, then he would quit his job and do exactly what he always promised he never would. Use his money to buy them everything they needed and not work a day in his life, instead dedicating himself to his family.
He had hope that he would be able to start that soon after he tied the knot with Lia, desperately wanting what he never got as a child from his own family. Sometimes he was scared that he would turn out like his father, holing up in his office and never giving his children an inch of his time. Or like his mother, constantly degrading him and Reggie and choosing to side with the power of evil instead of doing good for the world.
He didn't think he would ever get over the fear despite how much he knew he had changed since meeting his friends from Hogwarts. It would always be in the back of his mind that their blood flowed through his veins, regardless of how much he tried to forget about it, but he also knew that he would do everything in his power not to let Lia down. Work every second of his life to be the kind of man she needed and that their future family needed.
He would always try his best to be better than the circumstances he grew up in, wanting to prove the people who doubted him wrong.
He stumbled slightly as he suddenly ran into a figure, the bag of sweets falling from his hand. Without looking up, he grabbed the bag, picking up the items as he quickly muttered apologies.
