(Gasp! An update!? I know I went MIA for a little, just super busy with all my jobs and early graduation. I began writing again and cannot wait to share more chapters of my books! This is just a little update, proving I am alive lmao. I hope to start publishing again on February 7th, only on Saturdays for now. Until then, look for sporadic updates on other books, too! Enjoy and happy New Year!!!)
Tires squealed outside our window as sights of Manhattan passed by. I laid my head in content on Jack's shoulder as the rising sun shined on our cheeks. As the train whistle blew a mere 4 cars away, my eyes fluttered open. My sight was met with little stray fuzzies that were only visible in the shining sun that stood up, off Jack's blue button down. If I listened close enough, past the sounds of people murmuring and wheels squeaking, I could hear the beat of his heart at a healthy, slow pace. A sound I will forever take for granted.
The ear blistering noise of the wheels slowing made me groan. It made my stomach turn and yesterday's lunch wish to come up. As people began to move about - knowing we will arrive in Grand Central any second now - I turned my head to see. Suitcases were practically flying down the aisle and people began to topple over each other in hopes of beating the rush off the train. I figured I should grab my single suitcase that I had lived out of for the past 2 weeks before the mad rush of people became even more so insane.
I slipped out of Jack's arms slightly and went to stand, however, I was yanked back down and into his arms once more. He nuzzled my cheek before burying his face in my neck. I giggled softly, reaching my hand back to run it through his hair, "Good morning, sleepy head," I muttered tiredly.
"Mornin'," Jack muttered, kissing my neck gently.
I let out the softest moan, "C'mon, Jack. We're almost home," I said.
"Can wes' not move?" He asked, tightening his grip around me.
I sighed softly, "I wish we didn't have to,"
"So lets not," He groaned.
"It doesn't work like that, Jack. We can't just stay on this train forever," I said.
"Why?" He asked, still being able to hear the tiredness in his voice.
"Because, Mr. Kelly - If you haven't forgotten - we have a wedding to plan," I smiled.
Jack pulled his face out of my neck and smirked at me, "Our weddin',"
"Yes, love. Our wedding," I smiled wide.
"Maybe wes' can move just a little," He said.
I giggled, "Okay,"
I turned, gently kissing his cheek before standing. Just as I reached for my bag, the last whistle blew, the wheels squeaked as we came to a halt in the station. The brink interior of the building was hardly visible through the smoke the engine released as we peered out the window.
People stormed the front of each car, rushing down the step and onto the platform. They all ran to people who waited with signs, flowers or some kind of gift in hand. It pained me to know that nobody will show up for us. Father is too busy, Edith is once again punished and our friends... Well, they don't wish to see us. That's my fault.
Once the mad rush had passed, we were the last ones left on the train. I stood up, grabbing my suitcase once more before extending my hand out to Jack. He smirked softly, taking it. But, instead of getting up, he pulled me down to kiss me gently. I smiled wide, but pulled away. Yes, I want to kiss him endlessly and think about our future, but I really just want to lay in my old bed, get out of these clothes and... maybe have a drink.
"What? Don't wanna kiss mes'?" He asked with a mischievous grin.
I rolled my eyes, "I do... But maybe in our own house... In our bed," I smirked.
