I briskly walked through the long hall, clutching my portfolio to my chest as my maroon skirt wrapped around the walls as I sped around corners. I made my way to the top floor, stopping outside the huge oak doors. I took a huge deep breath before, flinging them open and going into the dimly lit office.

Past the secretary desk - Which was empty since it was after hours - was another set of oak doors. These ones mattered most. Behind these doors is the most influential, important editors there is today. An innovator. I swung open the doors and took a brave step in, my head up high as he looked at me. Yes, my Father.

At his shock, he stood and looked at me, "I did it, Father! I really think I-" I stopped speaking when I glanced beside him and saw... him. "Mr. Kelly." I nodded a hello.

"Ms. Pulitzer." He nodded back.

"Katherine, what is the meaning of you intruding on a highly important business meeting?" Father asked.

"I am sorry, sir. I just... I thought everyone had left and I would get a chance to speak with you." I explained.

"You do not own this building yet, you can not just burdge into rooms." He said.

"I am sorry, once again. I will talk to you at home, Fath- Mr. Pulitzer." I said, going to leave.

"I will be home late tonight, Katherine." Father said, barely looking up from his papers.

I sighed softly, "Don't keep him long, Mr. Kelly. A gentleman needs rest,... Something to calm him down. Especially when we have a strenuous job."

Jack nodded, "Don't worry, Ms. Pulitzer. We won't be long."

I nodded before leaving, closing the large doors behind me. I groaned softly and went down the hall, finding a bench to sit on. The long story short here is that Jack and I can't keep our hands off each other. Clearly, Father never approved so Jack and I decided we were better off apart... That's why we've made Father believe we are. He seems to like both of us more now, and it's nice having him act like my Father again. If we didn't fake being separated, Father would separate us.

As I sat there, fiddling with my thumbs, I heard footsteps approaching. I looked up and saw Jack standing there, his gray blazer slung over his shoulder as he smirked softly, "Shouldn't you be home by now, Ms. Pulitzer?" He asked, slowly stepping closer as I stood.

"Oh, just shut up, Mr. Kelly." I smirked, going on my tiptoes to kiss him deeply.

Jack smirked, his arms wrapping around my waist as we stumbled against the wall. I ran my hand through his hair, my other hand holding onto his forearm. I feel horrible for faking a terrible relationship, but it does make me want Jack even more. He gently pulled away a few minutes later, smirking as he brushed the stray hairs out of my face, "Wanna go ta my apartment?" He asked, me continuing to press against him.

"We should go to get ready." I sighed.

"Why?" Jack asked.

"Because we have supper at Medda's." I said, backing away slightly from him, "Jack, you can't cancel on us again. We haven't even told Johnny we're back together and it's been a month."

"Wes' will tell 'im." Jack said.

"When?" I asked.

"Soon, Ise swear, Ace." He said, kissing my head.

"Tonight." I said, my arms crossed.

"Fine. I'll escort you home." Jack said, going to link my arm with his.

"No need. We can't have Father suspect we like each other, besides, Phillip is waiting downstairs." I said.

Jack groaned softly, "Again?"
