"Jack, I swear to God. Stop." I muttered, trying not to giggle with happiness as I sat in the only chair in the ballroom as he stood beside me.

Today was the day we got our first portrait done. This one will be presented to us at our wedding, which is only about a month away. The past week, we mostly stayed to ourselves and didn't attend any balls, just wanting to celebrate on our own. Within that time, we decided we wanted to marry quickly. I don't not want to be Mrs. Kelly for any longer. So, tonight, we reveal to the city we are engaged. For now, we sit and wait for our portrait to be painted. Which is very hard when Jack is whispering seductive and inappropriate jokes in my ear to see if I would crack.

"Aw, what, Ace? Don't like my jokes?" He chuckled softly.

"I don't like you right now." I giggled, "If you want me to marry you, I suggest you stop."

"Dat's da 4th time youse said dat." He said.

"I mean it each time." I said.

"Yet youse haven't got up and left." He smirked.

"I... I don't want to ruin the art at work." I lied.

"Or youse still love mes'." He chuckled, sounding like a 4 year old.

I rolled my eyes, "You're lucky I do."

"Good afternoon, Children!" Father smiled as he walked downstairs, "How is everything coming along?"

"Oh, just wonderful, Father." I smiled.

"Wonderful to hear." He smiled, looking at the portrait awhile, "Looks lovely."

"Thank you, Mr. Pulitzer." The painter smiled.

"Ise bet Ise could do better." Jack whispered to me.

"Jack!" I reprimanded him.

"Youse don't think Ise could?" He asked.

"We haven't even seen it yet." I said.

"So youse sayin' Ise can't?" He asked.

"You can, I'm just stating we haven't seen it yet." I muttered.

"I was just about to say that since I have the colors and the outlines done, I can get out of your hair and work on this at my studio." The painter said through his thick French accent.

"Thank you, Monsieur Andree. Here is your check-"

"Father, Jack and I can pay ourselves, I assure you." I said, standing. It wasn't obvious, but I nearly fell from not standing for almost 3 hours so Jack had caught me in his arms.

"I know, darling. This is a part of my wedding gift." He said.

"Your wedding gift is the wedding." I said.

"And this is a part of it." Father smirked smartly.

I rolled my eye, "Come along, Jack, let's get some lunch." I said.

"Of course, love." Jack smirked, holding me close.

"I see he already has that part down." Monsieur Andree laughed with Father.

Jack and I walked into the dining room to see Theodore had laid out some lunch for us, a nice steak with mashed potatoes and peas. Ever since they found out we finally gotten engaged, they have treated us like royalty nonstop. It is nice, but I miss feeling normal. "So, Mr. Kelly, are you worried for tonight?" I asked as Jack sat across from me.

"I ain't." He smirked, stretching his arm out to grab my hand, "Cause Ise got youse."

I blushed and smiled, "And I got you." I smiled as he kissed my hand.
