Chapter Fifteen

Atid looked at himself in the mirror and frowned.

Mek: You agreed for this blind date. Why are you sulking now?

Atid does not say anything,. He picks up his car keys and starts walking towards the door.

Mek: Are you sure about this Atid? I hope you have thought this through.

Atid: I have decided. I am getting married to whoever my old man. I am sure this will be another business alliance and the person coming for this blind date is aware of it. No expectations, so no pain.

Mek: But ....

Atid: I have made my mind. Just stand by me.

Mek: Hmm

Atid exits the condo followed by Mek. Soon they reach the restaurant where the blind date has been arranged by his grandfather. His secretary is already standing outside waiting for him.

Atid: PMike

Mike: Mr. Chairman is waiting for you.

Atid follows his secretary to a private room booked for the blind date. Mike opens the door and asks Atid to go inside. He walks inside and looks around. He saw his grandpa sitting on side of the table with his mom and dad while the other side was occupied by a middle aged lady and a girl who looked his age.

Atid(in mind): So, she is my blind date.

Grandpa: Atid

Atid: Huh

Grandpa: Come forward and meet your mom's bestfriend and her daughter. This is Ariya and her daughter...

Suddenly the door opens with a loud sound and come enters the room huffing.

"I am sor....sorry for being late. I...I got caught in the traffic."

Atid looks at the newcomer and shouts...

"YOU"

The guy looks at Atid and tries to speak but nothing comes of his mouth as he is still trying to get his breath.

Atid: What the hell you are doing Mr.Ananada, barging into a private meeting like this?

Aroon: I..I...

"Meow"

"Baby"

Suddenly Atid is pushed aside the two ladies he just met holds Aroon's hand and looks at him in concern.

Aroon: Mae, P...

Atid: Mae? P?

Atid looks at Aroon and the two ladies in shock.

Aroon: I am sorry for being late Mr.Chairman. I got stuck in traffic.

Grandpa: It's grandpa for you Aroon. It's okay. You are in time. I was just introducing Atid to your family. Atid, this is your mom's bestfriend Mrs.Ariya Ananada, her daughter Among and her son Aroon.

Atid was shocked by the turn of events but he composed himself and greeted them with a smile.

Grandpa: Why don't we all sit and talk?

Everyone takes their seat around the table and start chatting. Atid looks at Aroon who is sitting next to his sister looking down.

Atid(in mind): SHIT.SHIT...SHIT. I am going to marry Aroon's sister. What have I got myself into?

He looks in Aroon's direction once again and is shocked to see Aroon looking at him but he immediately turns away breaking the eye contact. He then looks at Aroon's sister who is sitting next to his mother chatting with her so happily. She looks nice but...

"Aroon"

Atid is brought back from his thoughts by his mother's voice calling Aroon.

Aroon: Yes Mam.

Atid's mom: It's Mama Aom for you son.

Aroon: Yes Mama Aom.

Atid's mom: What did you study son and which college did you graduate from?

Aroon: I complete my graduation in Electronics Engineering from Chulalongkorn University.

Atid's mom: Nice. You can work with Atid in Chanthara Technologies.

Aroon: I am already a trainee there.

Atid's mom: That's great news. How about you Anong?

Anong: I didn't complete my graduation due to mom's health condition. I started running her restaurant when her health got worse.

Atid's mom: Oh!!! I am so sorry to hear that.

Anong: It's okay now. Mom's health has improved and she is running the restaurant now while Aroon forced me to complete my graduation since he started working.

Grandpa: That's so nice of you Aroon.

Aroon: I didn't do anything great grandpa. She sacrificed her studies for mom and me. Now that I am standing on my feet, I want her to achieve her dreams.

Grandpa: Well done son. I am proud of you.

Atid looks at Aroon and he feels a sense of pride as if he himself has done something great.

Grandpa: So, let's discuss what we have gathered here for.

Everyone nods their head.

Grandpa: Atid, you know why we have gathered here. So, do you have any objection to this marriage.

Atid does not say anything and looks at Aroon for a second but Aroon avoids his gaze. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

Atid: No

Grandpa: Great. Since the kids already agreed and our families have agreed to this union, let's get them engaged next Sunday and the wedding will take place on the last Sunday of next month. Do any of you have any objection?

Everyone shakes their head in no while Atid just looks down, clenching his hands into a tight fist.

Grandpa: Mike

Mike: Sir

Grandpa: Have you made all the arrangements for the press conference?

Mike: Yes Sir. They have gathered in the hall as per your request.

Grandpa: Okay, let's go.

Grandpa exits the room followed by Atid's parents, Aroon's mom,sister, Aroon and Atid. They enter the hall where the press meet is arranged. Grandpa steps on the podium and greets everyone with a smile.

Grandpa: Goodmorning everyone. I thank everyone for gathering here at such a short notice. This press conference has been called to make an important announcement. I, Anurek Chanthara, Chairman of Chanthara Technologies would like to announce the engagement of my grandson Atid Chanthara with Aroon Ananada, son of late Mr.Ming Ananada and Mrs. Ariya Ananada this coming Sunday.

Atid looks at his grandpa as the reality of his words sinks in. He looks at Aroon who is standing next to him with his eyes looking down.

Atid: Did you...

Before he could say anything, his grandpa calls them onto the stage.

Grandpa: Atid, Aroon, please come here.

Atid walks to the stage in trance followed by Aroon. They stand on either side of the Chairman as the media clicks their photo.

Atid(screaming in mind): SHIT.SHIT...SHIT. I AM MARRYING AROON. I....AM...MARRYING...AROON.

He looks around in shock unable to process what just happened while everyone congratulated them.
