Chapter Twenty Two

Aroon looks at the paper in his hand with tears in his eyes. He didn't want ro cry. But what happened a couple of hours back brought more tears in his eyes. He sobbed like a child covering his face with his hand. The pain he felt was unbearable. Those painful moments kept running before his eyes.

2 hours back:

Aroon had just reached home after signing the contract in Atid's office. He felt hurt reading the contract but he didn't want to show his sadness on his face. He knew that so his and Atid's family's happiness and hope depends on this marriage. He didn't want to disappoint him. He also wanted a chance to be near Atid because he believed that his love can remove Atid's insecurities and bring out the better person in him that he is hiding.

He was so lost in thoughts that he didn't hear his phone ringing. The call gets disconnected by the them he notices the incoming call. He checked his phone list and is surprised to see Atid's name there.

Aroon; Why did he call? Did something happen? Should I call him back?

As he was brooding on these questions, his phone starts ringing again. He quickly answers the call.

Aroon: Hello

Atid: Where the hell were you? Why didn't you pick my call?

Aroon: I....I was in the bathroom.

Atid: I am sending you an address. Come there in 30 minutes.

Aroon: But

Atid: No buts. It is urgent.

Aroon: Okay

Aroon changes into a pair of jeans and tshirt and hires a cab to go to the send address. He reaches the building and enters the lift to Atid's floor. Once he reaches the condo, he rings the bell nervously.

Atid: Come in.

Aroon holds the handle and pushes it down. The door opens into a dimly lit room.

Aroon: PAtid

Atid: In my room.

Aroon slowly walks into the room with a racing heart but as he enters the room, his heart stops for a second. The scene before him broke him completely. Atid was lying on bed while a half naked straddled him. He was kissing the girl wildly while she was moaning his name like a s**t. Aroon felt like he is intruding someone's privacy. He turns around to leave but stops hearing Atid's voice.

Atid: Oh, you are here.

Aroon nods his head but do not look at Atid.

Atid: There is an envelope on the dining table. It contains a copy of the agreement. Take it.

Aroon: I..I don't...

Atid: I want you to read it thoroughly and keep each and every point in your mind. I don't want any arguments later.

Aroon just nods his head but still keeps his gaze down.

Atid: Why don't you look at me Mr.Ananada? Are you by any chance upset because of what's happening here? You know this is the first condition in our contract,"Freedom to do activities of my choice without any interference from you."

Aroon raises his head and looks at Atid in shock as he quotes the first condition.

Atid: You know being a casanova, this is the activity that I enjoy the most.

Atid looks at Aroon with a sly smile and he realized at that moment that Atid had deliberately called him there to mock him.

Atid: Why are you silent Mr.Ananada? Would you like to back out from this contract now?

Aroon remains silent and his eyes are stuck on Atid's hands that are running over the semi naked girl's body.

Aroon: No.

Aroon just says that and leaves the room without looking back.

Flashback ends.

Aroon does remember how he managed to book a cab and return home. He was crying the whole way back as he could not believe that Atid can be so cruel to him. He keeps crying and falls asleep on the floor.

Meanwhile on the other side of the city:

A tanned skin guy wearing just a pair of shorts stood in the balcony, holding a cigarette in his hand. He takes a puff and looks at the bright lights of the city surrounding him. A sad smile appears on his face thinking about the darkness in his heart eventhough he is surrounded by so much light. Suddenly flashes of a pair of sad brown eyes flash before his eyes and he felt an pang in his heart. He never meant to heart him but his frustration on hearing Mek's harsh words, Aroon's silent acceptance of the contract, his own insecurities and ego made him act like a fool. He blamed him for my fight with Mek. He wanted to hurt him for that. But when he saw the pain in Aroon's eyes, he felt bad. He never intended to sleep with the girl but he wanted to provoke Aroon to react or back out of the marriage. But he...he just accepted everything and walked away from there.

Atid: Why aren't you reacting Aroon? Why do you want to be part of hell called my life? Why don't you get angry, shout or reject this marriage proposal? Why? Why? Why?
