Chapter Eighteen

Aom: He has taken this decision based on what he saw in his parents married life. But you can prove him wrong. You can bring a smile on his face. You can bring my naughty and warm Atid back with your love. I know what I am asking is going to cause you pain because he will not give in easily. He can hurt you with your words and action. But can you take this risk and agree to marry my son. Are you willing to take this risk Aroon?

There is a complete silence in the room as everyone's eyes are on Aroon. Aroon closes his eyes for a second and takes in a deep breath.

Aroon: YES.

Aom quickly holds Aroon's hands and squeezes them slightly.

Aom: Yes? Did you just say yes?

Aroon nods his head shyly.

Aom: Yay!!!!

Aom shouts in happiness and hugs Aroon tight.

Aom: Thank you. Thank you so much son. I...I love you son.

Aom places a kiss on Aroon's forehead. Aroon suddenly realizes that he took the decision without checking with his mom and sister. He looks at them and is shocked to see them smiling with tears in their eyes.

Aroon: Mom, P...

Ariya: Did you really think I didn't notice the changes in you in last 2 days. I saw my cheerful baby break into tears whenever he thought he was alone. You hardly eat or slept since you came back after going out to the club with Niran. I thought you had a fight with him but now I know the reason behind those tears.

Aroon runs and hugs his mother as his P runs her back to console her little brother.

Aroon: I...I went to the club to prove that he is just my boss and nothing more. But..when I saw him with a girl, I couldn't stop myself from feeling the pain. He ran away from there but he found me outside crying. He was drunk and angry. It felt like he was fighting with himself. He tried to walk away but fate intervened and we ended up in each other's arms. I could see the conflicting emotions in his eyes as he came close to me. At the end his insecurities won and he pushed me away harshly. I felt hurt.

Everyone in the room looks at him with tears in their eyes. Aom was the first one to speak.

Aom: I know Atid is in pain due to our mistakes but that does not mean he can hurt others. What he did to you is not right. After hearing all these, I don't want you to sacrifice yourself for him.

Aroon: I am not sacrificing any Mama Aom. He pushed me because of his insecurities. But he didn't leave me there alone. He took me to my house. He thought about me even in that state of mind. He is not a bad person, he is just insecure and hurt. I said yes because I want to be with him. I want him to accept that he is a lovable person and that there are people around him who care for him. I am not sacrificing anything but I am being selfish here. I am doing everything for my happiness because seeing him happy will make me happy.

Aom smiles hearing Aroon's reply. She looks at Ariya and speaks.

Aom: Aroon is your son Aom. I want you to think before you agree to this marriage proposal. I don't want you to take any decision based on our past. I want you to think about his happiness first.

Ariya: His happiness is your son Aom and that we want, his happiness. So we will accept this alliance wholeheartedly.

The two friends hugs each other tight.

"Ariya"

Ariya: Mr.Chanthara

Mr.Chanthara: You have raised him well my dear. He is what my grandson needs in his life, a ray of sunshine. Come here my child.

Mr.Chanthara calls Aroon towards him. Aroon walks towards him and kneels before him. He keeps his hand on Aroon's head and caresses his hair gently.

Mr.Chanthara: Thank you my child for helping this old man. You have made me very happy with your decision. Forgive this old man for all his harsh words before.

Aroon: Please don't apologize grandpa. You were just looking out for him.

Mr.Chanthara: Take care of him for us my child.

Aroon: I will.

Mr.Chanthara pecks on Aroon's forehead as he smiles at him gently.

Flashback ends.

Aroon cannot believe that things have changed so much for him in last 24hrs. He could not speak or look at Atid because he did not know how he will react to this alliance. He saw the anger and irritation in his eyes when their eyes met for few seconds after the announcement of their engagement.

Aroon: God save me.

"No one save you Aroon."

A shiver runs through his body as he hears that familiar voice close to his ears. He turns his head and gulps as he finds those fierce eyes staring at him.

Atid: Save yourself before It's too late. You have got 30 days to end this drama called marriage because the day you say I do, I could say welcome to hell.

Fear grips Aroon's heart at those cold and threatening words but he composes himself and looks into those fierce eyes with a calm expression and replies.

Aroon: I am ready for the hell if it's with you.
