[A/N] It's Friday, not Tuesday? Oh simple minded readers, your calendars are just all upside down...(≖‿≖   ) Allow me to formally gaslight you.

[Tabitha's POV]

I didn't like this trip. There was actually nothing set up, like yes, showers, but how do we even wash our clothes? My jacket was somehow splattered with mud, the word 'Amazon' in cursive font with trees briefly looked like it said 'Amazor'.

Emily was carrying half of my things, she was thin but she was stronger than me, well, maybe her back was anyway, she didn't complain. I had a second outfit at least.

Catching up with them wasn't easy, both Jacob and Atlas, who were unfortunately in the same group together, were the kind that effortlessly walked ahead of everyone else and weren't all that aware of the people that couldn't keep up. And recently they seemed especially unaware of everyone else.

I didn't know that much about Atlas, because although he was hot, sure, in an obvious ridiculous kind of way, attracting the attention of the most basic girls who were only interested in superficial things like muscle, he didn't have anything else to actually make him appealing. Fact was after his stint at the academy was over there was no way he was actually going to make anything of himself.

By the sounds of things the only girls he hadn't dated yet were those from our year.

One look at him and I could see it, him in the future, one girl after another just because it was easy and slowly draining his money, then it would be child support and an expensive motorbike and he would somehow age surprisingly ungracefully and show up to a student reunion drunk, shocking the dumb girls that still quietly crushed on that long gone image of him from when they were young despite him being stupid and obnoxious.

I mean technically he wasn't annoying people on the trip, he'd been kind of quiet for a while at school, but everyone knew he wasn't going anywhere. And I guess stupid wasn't the right word, but I doubted he was actually as clever as his grades pretended, he didn't behave like he knew anything.

By contrast Jacob was completely ideal. Clever, super hot, hardworking, diligent. He wouldn't even have to start up his own company because his father would give him a job at his.

Sometimes you have to think things through properly. Relationships are an investment. Is your future boyfriend going to go up or down in value?

That said when I did finally reach them from behind I called out his name and he didn't even glance back, just kept moving at the same pace.

I hurried up closer and walked up along side them, being forced to walk slightly in the grass because Atlas didn't move up so that Jacob could.

Atlas was the only one to look across Jacob at me, see and raise a perfectly angled eyebrow, sharp attractive eyes looking in my direction briefly, then turning to nudge Jacob. "Did we order something off of Amazon?"

I made a face that let him know that joke wasn't funny but Jacob didn't even look, just grunted in acknowledgement he said something.

To be honest I was at least relieved they weren't friends. Because I'd had my eyes on Jacob longer than anyone else and I'd never seen him be around a person so much before as with Akara and Atlas, and both of them were absolutely the worst.

I mean Akara's is genuinely stupid, literally, set four for everything meant you should probably just get expelled at that rate. So I guess well done for breaking that Asian stereotype. He also didn't listen to teachers, I guess, it wasn't like I knew him that well, and Atlas went without saying. They were bad influences.
