"A favour?"
Amir nodded. We had stopped at a table with Amir and his friends on it, apparently he only had two. One of which I vaguely remembered standing around awkwardly in the skatepark before leaving. Two short kids, that almost made Amir look average height. They were loud but awkward and every other sentence was the kind of joke you had to be high on sugar and caffeine to be able to summon a laugh for.
I looked around at them and they watched me expectantly.
"We all think he's an arsehole, and it would work out great for me too. He really doesn't deserve to be class prefect, all he's got is money."
"And because he's tall." Ben added.
Amir shrugged. "Tall and has money. He gets the girls to vote for him because he's h- tall."
Oh I get it, tall was a not-gay way of saying hot. I laughed.
"So you want to overthrow the government, start a coup?"
He snorted. "He's not prefect yet. But he will be, no doubt about it, ever since Emerson left it's been a sure thing. Aside from Clyde no one else is really being considered. All I want is to stuff the vote box a bit, push the votes in my favour."
I raised an eyebrow, slowly catching on. "You mean you want me to do it so you don't get caught."
"Well..."
"You'll still get caught, if I do it for you it's obvious who is in on it."
"It's not just that."
"What else is it."
"That arsehole has his stupid eyes on me all the time."
"Why?"
He shrugged. "I don't know why. Well... No, I don't know, he's just keeping an eye on me."
"He told him he was going to do it." Ferris added helpfully.
I turned my head sharply to Amir. "You what?" Sometimes Amir does or says things so stupid I doubt that I heard things correctly, like maybe all fifteen consonants and ten vowels were just pronounced a bit weirdly.
Amir nodded slowly, a bit red in the face, then shook his head. "Yeah, but, well, no."
"You told him you were were going to stuff the vote box?"
"Not stuff it... I just heavily implied I was going to do whatever I could to win. That's all."
I rubbed my forehead, talking to this kid always gave me a headache. "So now he's keeping watch on you."
"No, he's never liked me."
"Then why-"
"I-"
There was a cough interrupting the rest of his sentence and we all turned from our cosy little discussion about rigging the presidential election in order to overthrow the government and there, about five inches from me, was Angela. Looking annoyed at me.
"Uh- Hey."
She frowned. "I just wanted to let you know you're an arse." She said, her tiny form turning dramatically, her brown locks bouncing in the air as she turned on her heel and left without waiting to see my reaction or hear my reply.
I turned back to Amir and his friends.
They stared at me.
"I..." I groaned. "Whatever. Let's just not discuss that."
"But I want to-" Amir tried.
"Let me get this right. You want me to go in and fill out a bunch of tags with your name on them and put them in the vote box."
