[A/N] Everyone enjoying their Tuesday today? (‾ ⌣ ‾ )
[Akara's POV]
Callen agreed to help, but he was reluctant and argued about doing it as soon as possible. He seemed to be surprisingly less judgemental about the whole experimenting thing than most others would be. Still he was as aware as I was that we'd have to be careful, it wasn't cheating, or whatever, but it wouldn't go down well, so it was best done in secret.
It would just help me figure things out... but it felt a lot like planning a car crash.
By the time we caught up with everyone else people were actually nearly done setting up their tents at the next resting spot, and the only reason we knew where to go was there had been a break for lunch during which we had continued walking because we didn't even realise everyone had stopped for a moment to eat, we were too far back.
The sun had begun to set and we were hungry and thirsty and Amir looked like a dementor had stolen his soul, he had lost the ability to speak and could only make faint groaning noises.
"I'm fucking starving." I complained as we walked through the girls campground first, the boys one being a bit further on according to the teacher, everyone was already nearly done setting up their tents, with the few individuals that were still struggling.
We could hear Miss Westfield complaining as she tried to help a couple girls put up their tent.
"This is why we asked for specific kinds of tents girls. We can't help you with it if we don't know how it works. If you can't put this together before the bonfire tonight you'll have to bunk with other girls." She shut down their replying complaints with a frustrated hand wave, all the bangles on her wrist jangling. "No, no. No talking back girls, this trip is all about learning responsibility-"
We passed out of earshot and headed into our campground, the only space available being the one where Amir and Callen would have to finish setting up their tent fast, so I helped them.
Well, I helped Callen, Amir lay on the floor with his arms spread out and his glasses on his forehead while we struggled.
After a minute Gift came over and put an arm around me and I tensed up.
He ruffled my hair and frowned. "Wet, did you wash too late?"
I felt my ears get a bit hot. "Maybe."
"Are you staying with him?" He asked Callen.
"Huh?" I glanced between them. Why was he addressing Callen specifically.
Callen nodded and looked away, hiding back behind one of the walls of the tent.
Gift nodded, eying him down, then looked at me and spoke in Thai. "He looks like a girl." He told me matter of fact-ly.
I blinked a moment and scoffed in surprise as he walked away, then turned back to Callen. "Did you annoy him?"
Callen shrugged and looked away. "Help me with this bit..."
"Did you say something to him?" I frowned, moving over to help.
He shook his head. "No..."
"Your cousin asked someone to wash his back yesterday, and Callen helped." Amir told me from where he was lying on the ground.
"Oh..." I hummed. "Shouldn't he be thankful then?"
"What did he say?" Amir asked.
"Callen looks like a girl."
