Jisoo anxiously fiddled with the fabric of her skirt and waited for her turn. One of the teachers was giving out serial numbers for the participants in the second round of the casting, but Jaehyun was still not there. The girl wanted to rehearse a little more with him before they performed on stage in front of the jury. But Jaehyun, who as he said went off to talk to the choreographer, still didn't come back.
"Hi, Jisoo," her former teacher, who always treated her well, greeted her.
She smiled at him sincerely, looking forward to the days when she could study with him again, and moved closer to the table on which he kept a list of participants.
"Partner's name."
"Jeong Jaehyun," she answered shortly, hiding her displeasure under a slight smile. The mere mention of the guy's name made her feel chilly, but Jisoo couldn't get emotional right now.
She needs to perform and go back to school, as there is a physics test to be taken today. The girl tried not to think much about it, but she was subconsciously worried even before the test, because due to intensive rehearsals she could not properly prepare for it, although she was sure that she could pass. However, Jisoo never set herself the goal of just passing through. She has to be the best.
"Jaehyun?" The teacher raised his eyebrows in surprise, looking thoughtfully at the former student. "He's a member of the jury, isn't he?"
Jisoo nodded positively, not wanting to discuss this fact, which already irritated her.
"But the jury member is not allowed... Wait a second, I'll clarify."
The man hurriedly grabbed his smartphone, ignoring the loud whispers of the girls and boys who were behind Jisoo in line. She herself took a deep breath, trying not to listen to their words. Experience shows that this is always something bad.
"Yes? And how to help? Why... All right, director Yoon, I'll tell her."
The panic in the teacher's eyes didn't sit well with Jisoo and she really hoped it wasn't about her. Maybe they just ran out of numbered sheets and need to print more? Or suddenly want to skip someone want out of turn? Jisoo wouldn't mind at all, as long as she was allowed to perform.
But the girl clearly saw a large number of sheets on the table, and, having read the list, she could distinguish her name under a specific number. Thus, which the teacher held in his hands and was ready to hand her. However, his guilty eyes robbed her of all hope. Something happened and Jisoo was scared.
"Jisoo, I'll ask you to wait on the benches. I'll give the numbers to other participants now, and we'll talk later, okay?" he said in the most caring voice, thereby only annoying the girl.
"Why?" Jisoo demanded, not wanting to give up so easily. Especially when former rivals bored her with arrogant glances.
She remembered her early days at this academy before meeting Jaehyun. Then they looked at her the same way, and Jisoo felt hurt at the thought that friendship with classmates at the academy was imaginary. It turns out that she was smiled in the locker room and helped in general rehearsals only because of Jaehyun's influence.
"I'll explain everything, Jisoo. Please go away. You're holding up the queue," the teacher said, and it seemed to her that his voice was becoming irritable.
The girl shook her head and felt it was his duty to tell her the reason right now. She won't be able to sit and watch other contestants and their partners get their numbers.
The teacher took a deep breath, rolling his eyes. Behind the girl, the buzz of other potential students intensified, but he could not kick Jisoo out. Therefore, having sent a text message to one of his colleagues to urgently replace him, he got to his feet.
