Jisoo was sitting with Dalbi on the soft carpet surrounded by the playpen and played with her toys. But the girl's thoughts were elsewhere. She could hardly keep a smile on her face so as not to show real feelings to her daughter. Jisoo was thinking about how to tell Jaehyun's parents that she wanted to take Dalbi for half a day. She already knew that they would be very unhappy with this. She saw well how much the Jeong couple took care of her daughter, giving the best and most expensive.
"It's time for Dalbi to have dinner," she heard Jaehyun's voice behind her.
Turning her side to him, Jisoo stared blankly at the boy. After classes at the academy, on the way to the mansion, they managed to quarrel again. She warned him that she would ask his parents for permission, to which Jaehyun once again became angry with her and accused her of being trapped by Haein, who was not worthy of becoming a part of her life. Especially getting to know her daughter.
In fact, Jaehyun was most pissed when he saw a picture of Jisoo kissing Haein in the stands during a basketball game and regretted that he had decided to miss this pointless activity. Who knew that Haein would not only be released onto the playing field, but he would still manage to bring victory points to his team? Jaehyun was well aware of how much Jisoo loved successful people. He could feel how far away she was from him. Therefore, in no case he could allow her to introduce Haein to his daughter, arranging their own separate family among themselves.
"Good," she said shortly, rising to her feet and bending down to pick up her daughter.
Jisoo felt more trusted in caring for Dalbi, even being allowed to personally carry her to the kitchen and feed her. And most importantly, the little girl herself willingly reached for her arms, tightly clinging to her mother's body. Jisoo wanted to cry bitterly each time, knowing that Dalbi felt her. She was getting sad with her, laughed when Jisoo felt good. Now she was in anxiety, therefore Dalbi firmly pressed her tiny fingers on the fabric of her school shirt, as if realizing that her mother was worried about something.
Gently walking downstairs, Jisoo noticed in the living room there were sitting the parents of Jaehyun who followed her down. They smiled at her kindly, nodding at how the three of them were perfect for each other. The girl pretended not to notice their approving peeps, as the thought of having Jaehyun next to her, and not Haein, made her feel like gagging.
"I would like to talk to you," she said with her voice barely shaking and ignored the way Jaehyun's eyes widened. She mentally chuckled to herself, foreseeing that he, most likely, hoped to the last that she would not dare. "Mrs. Nam, please feed Dalbi," she politely asked the nanny who was standing next to her and swallowed her saliva from the realization of how she behaved in a business-like manner with the worker, as if she were a member of this family.
"Yes, of course, dear. Sit down," Mrs. Jeong told her, and Jisoo gave Jaehyun a short, contemptuous look and obeyed. "Ms. Ming, please bring Jisoo a cup of herbal tea with lilac," she ordered the housekeeper, causing the girl to huddle more tightly into the soft sofa, not expecting that the mistress of the house remembered her favorite drink. "How are you, Jisoo? Are you doing well?" she asked, not letting the girl gather her thoughts to start a sentence.
Jisoo noted in her mind that Jaehyun probably learned his psychological manipulations from his mother since she still did not dare to firmly confront his parents with the fact of her desire.
"Do you live alone now? Jaehyun doesn't say anything about you at all," Mr. Jeong asked, causing Jisoo's cheeks to blush. She could not admit to them that she lived with a guy who was not even their son.
Jaehyun sat down next to her, obviously waiting for her answer. Jisoo never admitted to him that she had moved in with Haein, but she knew she should. At least to show how serious she was about her feelings. And when a cup of tea was placed in front of her, the aroma of which always brought her out of the real world for a few seconds, Jisoo took a deep breath. She gave herself a mental slap in the face so that she finally came to her senses and remembered that these people were not her family. That they lied to her for six months, and now they pretended to be caring only because Jisoo is another whim of their beloved son.
