The first master class was already scheduled for Sunday, and Jisoo was glad of this. She had a reason to refuse Haein's date, as it was getting harder for her to be around him. She didn't want to lose him, but she was also afraid that at any second she would not endure and tell him the truth.
Other contestants had already gathered in the dance hall of the academy, among which there were also current students of the school, who, having recognized Jisoo, approached her in order to chat. The girl, weaned from the attention of her classmates, was glad to communicate with people with whom she could endlessly discuss ballet. She was impatient to return to her studies, and she couldn't let her worries stop her from doing so. Therefore, she devoted herself completely to the class of a choreographer who puts numbers for local and foreign troops, and demanded full attention to her lesson.
"Okay, now I need a couple of a girl and a guy to show you better..."
At that moment the door opened and Jaehyun entered the hall, politely nodding to the woman. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt, Mrs. Song," he said, slowly walking to the centre of the hall, where students and contestants sat on the floor. Some girls looked at him with love, not hiding their admiration. There was no doubt that he was known here, to what Jisoo only snorted in displeasure under her breath.
"It's all right, Jaehyun, you're just in time. You will assist me," the choreographer smiled at her and, looking at the hall, called the girl with her hand. "Jisoo, come here. Show with Jaehyun everything what I just explained."
Jisoo shook her head negatively, already anticipating what number Mrs. Song would ask them to perform. The same number that she did for them over a year ago and which they performed at one of the concerts held in the academy. Mrs. Song had a non-classical ballet choreography mixed with contemporary styles. She made the partners completely merge into each other, experience deep emotions and share them with the audience. And for a couple of Jisoo and Jaehyun, this number was considered signature. Then they were deeply in love with each other and with ballet, and this tandem is still cited as an example for beginners.
"Show us the second part of «Be with me» number," Mrs. Song said, not noticing the confusion in the girl's eyes.
Jisoo could not refuse or show her displeasure. She was not in a position to argue with the choreographer, so she dutifully approached Jaehyun, who, judging by his expression, was a little bit uncomfortable either.
"We haven't rehearsed this number in a while," he said, smiling awkwardly at the students who were looking at them with interest.
"Not a problem. You and Jisoo are professionals," replied the woman and turned on the music. "And one and two," she began, so the girl had no choice but to let Jaehyun wrap his arms around her waist and lead her to the dance.
He, tightly holding her thin waist with his palms, twisted her body in a kind of fouetté until he stopped her facing himself. After lingering for a few seconds in this position, he nodded quietly at her, what caused memories of the past spreading throughout Jisoo's body. She smiled kindly at Jaehyun with the corners of her lips and gave herself to dancing. It seemed to her that they had returned to the time when they were still together. When there was no pregnancy, no plans to leave for St. Petersburg. When the future seemed bright and colourful. When that future was supposed to be shared. For a few minutes Jisoo forgot the existence of her daughter, an ill-fated mother and forgot about the existence of Haein.
"Excellent!" exclaimed the choreographer after the final movement.
Jisoo was standing with her back closely pressed against Jaehyun's torso, and was trying to get her breath back in order. The guy's hand, firmly holding her belly, made the hair on her arms stand on end. She felt his breath around her neck, but she couldn't bring herself to get as far away from him as possible. The choreographer summed up today's master class, and they kept standing in the same position.
