Face Of Hope
“Hyung! Spades did it again!”
“Where!?”
Hueningkai and I went out of the office and get on my car to drive where the crime scene happened. I’m driving while he’s holding his phone with the latest crime report.
“He was badly injured. All his limbs got chopped off, he has multiple stabs and the knife left pierced in his right eye, the knife scratches and… the spade sign on his forehead,” he reported.
I didn’t react and just pressed the accelerator even more. I’m mad that’s why I’m really furious. Why? Why did he kill him?
“Hyung, I just hope we’ll finally get to have a witness,” Huening hoped.
“Please… Just this once.”
We arrived at the crime scene and we saw team two doing their works. “Hey Choi Beomgyu, what did you find out?” I asked him.
“What are you doing here?” he asked me, not even giving me a glance.
“Why? I’m part of the unit,” I replied and looked at the victim’s situation.
“Yeah but this is not your case,” he stated.
“Right, this is your case but you’re doing nothing and just waiting for the killer to kill again,” I rebut.
He glared at me. “We’re doing our own investigations in here. So, go and take your own case,” he shooed me and walks away.
“Didn’t we talk about this?” I asked him.
“It’s Huening I talked to, not you,” he replied. “Get lost,” he even added.
“Yeah, yeah I don’t care. You always act like a shit anyways,” I muttered.
“Should I recall how you like that shit, Detective Choi?”
“Shut up,” I hissed and just went out of the house because I know he’s not going to let me do anything in there. I observed the alleyway and there’s no CCTV nearby but something caught my eyes.
“Kai,” I called him.
“Hyung, detective Park is calling us to head back. Team leader will scold us,” he stated.
“Do you think that food cart is always open 24 hours?” I asked out instead.
“W-what? Ah, I don’t know but hyung—“
I cut him off. “Let’s check it out,” I stated and started walking towards the food cart.
“Argh Yeonjun hyung! Detective Choi!” Huening called me and I even heard him growl.
“Excuse me! Excuse me!” I shouted while knowing at the house that I think the owner of the cart.
It is open in weekdays and up until 10 in the evening, then why is this close today? I called again and even knocked at their door but no one’s answering.
Something’s odd in here.
I walked back to the way and looked up at the house. “Oh— excuse me! Can you come down for a second!?” I yelled when I saw a woman peeking on the window but she suddenly hide. “What’s that?” I muttered.
“Hyung, what are you doing?” Huening asked.
“She probably saw something last night that’s why she won’t cooperate,” I answered. “This is a perfect spot to see if someone is passing by and if someone will come. This is the intersection, that’s the house, and if this cart is in work last night, it means that woman definitely has something to say,” I conclude.
