“Are you really sure you’re going to sell your unit?”

After a year staying in my unit alone, it suddenly feels suffocating. I closed our old house because I don’t think I can stay in there for long knowing it was the place where they died.

I nods to my landlady, “Yes, ahjumma. I just need to freshen things up. I don’t think I can stay here for long,” I explained.

“You’re living here for two years now, right?” she asked.

“Ahjumma, you forgot again?” then I chuckles. “Just one year,” I corrected.

“Oh right! Aigoo! Forgive this old lady HAHAH! Anyways, I’ll make sure to rely that to the new buyer. Okay?” she assured.

“Thank you so much, ahjumma,” I smiled.

She gently rubs my back. “Aigoo, your parents is dwelling in a nice place, okay? Then, I’ll just find you a new buyer. I heard my nephew knows someone who wants to live near here,” she replied.

“Thank you again, ahjumma. I’ll leave right away if the buyer is confirmed,” I said.

“Okay, okay. See you around and be careful in your work. Have a good day ahead,” she stated and I smiled at her.

I went back inside my room and my smile fades out. I started observing the whole place and it just kills me because even in here I can still picture out my parents.

I had a shower, put clothes on and drive off heading to the quarters. Lowerclass men are greeting me as I walk in the hallway and when I reached the blotter area, which is the busiest and loudest area of the station, there is some bunch of high schoolers getting interviews and has some bruises.

“Aigoo, what is this?” I asked the officer assigned.

He salutes on me and I nods. “Gang fights again, detective. These kids won’t just live a highschool life without fighting,” the officer growls and shook his head in disapproval.

“It’s okay. I’ve been in there as well during high school,” I laugh. I knocked the desk to get the kids attention. “Hey, punks! The next time I’m going to see you in here, you’re going straight to jail. You get that? You all are so loud!” I yelled that made them shut up.

“Detective, instead of giving us time why don’t you catch the serial killer? Police can’t always to their work properly,” one of the kids taunted me.

I smiled and went closer to his ear. “I’m going to catch him so watch this detective do that, okay?” I stood straight and tap his shoulders. “Study well, each of you.”

After that I head in to our office and they seem all busy. “What’s happening?” I asked them as soon as I entered and walk towards my desk.

“Ah, there’s some burglary case in District 3 and we are assigned to investigate it,” Huening replied while looking at his monitor.

“Wait what?” I frowned. “When did our team handle a burglary case unless someone died?”

Huening looked at me. “Team two holds Spades, so we’re going to handle the minor cases instead of them,” he explained.
