Declaration of War

"Where is he? Why can't I reach him?"

After almost two seasons had passed, the districts are now quiet. No serial killing, no more special team, Yeonjun on his own unit, and no Spades in news. Yeonjun and Soobin lost their communication as well. The older is always trying to reach the younger but he couldn’t. That’s why he’s just expecting him to meet on the street one day.

It’s like calm before the storm.

“W-we’re going home! Bye boss— I’m gonna puke!”

“Hey! Lee, stop! Don’t do it here! Damn it!”

“Take care! Stay safe!” Yeonjun yelled to the other team members after getting wasted over uncountable soju bombs because of a team celebration.

“Hey, Beomgyu, let’s go. Stand in there,” Yeonjun poke Beomggyu who’s sleeping.

“Yeonjun hyung, I’ll be going now. Take care of Beomgyu hyung,” Hueningkai said and fled.

“Hey! Aigoo! These kids!” Yeonjun growl in frustrations.

He left no choice but to carry Beomgyu on his back and while walking on a snowy night on the pavement, he felt Beomgyu getting closer to him— almost hugging him because of cold.

Yeonjun stopped for a moment and look for a vacant bench and put him down in there. He’s still asleep and Yeonjun pulled a nice and comfortable scarf then wrapped it around the younger’s neck.

The two reached Yeonjun’s unit, he immediately placed Beomgyu in the extra room and turned the heater on. He made sure that the curtains and windows are closed.

Yeonjun took off Beomgyu’s shoes and then covered him with a thick blanket. “Goodnight,” Yeonjun muttered.

“Hyung,” he heared the younger called that made him stop from walking away.

“Hmm?” Yeonjun hummed and stayed on his feet.

“I’m sorry… for everything,” he apologized and stopped his self from sniffling.

Beomgyu’s seeing the back of the older that is frozen in there. He wanted to hold his hand and ask for forgiveness as much as he can but he knows the older won’t listen to him.

“For what?” Yeonjun asked, still not looking at Beomgyu.

“That day,” Beomgyu started. “That day, I heard the instructors are trying to pull you down if ever you’ll get the highest score and they will frame you up as well for the murder that happened because of your dad,” he explained.

“Your dad and one of the instructors had a major fight, you know it, right? So he’s trying to take your dad down through you. Since you were once seen with the victim, he can manipulate things and put the blame to you— you know that I can’t let them, hyung. You know that I can’t let them ruin you just because of the other’s reason,” Beomgyu continued and a tear escaped from his eyes.

“I took the credits of the case report so you’ll have the lowest grade and with that they mocked you for being incompetent. I talked to Captain Kim before the reporting and explained things to him and he knows it. He knows what’s happening so he still gave you the highest grade. I-I’m really sorry, Yeonjun hyung. I d-did it to protect you,” Beomgyu bawled and low sobs can now be heard all over the room.

“I know,” Yeonjun responded. “I just don’t want you to get close to me again because the same thing might happen again and I don’t want you to risk your life again just to protect me, Beomgyu,” Yeonjun stated and turned his back to meet Beomgyu’s gaze.
