Childhood
“What did you two talked about?”
“Nothing, just apologizing and saying thank you,” Soobin lied and smiled at him as he sips on his lemonade.
The two decided to take a seat at an open park where they can see several people having jogs and walk with their dogs.
“Do you like Beomgyu?” Soobin suddenly asked.
Yeonjun looked at him and Soobin’s just casually sipping on his drink while looking what’s in front of him. He didn’t expect such question from him because he knows Soobin doesn’t know much about Beomgyu.
“No, why?” Yeonjun answered.
Soobin just chuckles and looked at him. “Nothing. How about Beomgyu then? Does he like you?” he asked again.
“We’re just friends,” Yeonjun lied.
He doesn’t want anyone to know about Beomgyu’s feelings for him not because he’s embarrassed. It’s because people might pity him for having one-sided love. Yeonjun wants everything that is happening in them, stays in them.
“Why did you suddenly wants to meet me, by the way? Aren’t you busy?” Yeonjun asked.
“I am busy, I am actually instructing at an arts academy right now because my friend will have a week leave,” Soobin said.
“Oh! That’s good then,” Yeonjun expressed in proudness. “That’s good to hear,” he added and piched Soobin’s cheek.
“Thank you, sir! And of course, I just miss you,” Soobin reply.
“I don’t even know if you like me,” Yeonjun stated.
“What if I do? Will you take any responsibility?” Soobin asked.
“Why? Are you pregnant?” Yeonjun joked in his serious face.
That made Soobin burst in laughter and started throwing himself on Yeonjun’s lap as he keep at it. Yeonjun just laugh at him as well until Soobin gets back on his proper sit.
“Ah Soobin, can you tell me a story about your childhood?” Yeonjun asked in his calm voice.
“Childhood? You know I don’t really have a good childhood memories,” Soobin answered.
“I remembered that you have that long lost friend of yours that they said he died, can you tell me about him? How did he died or something like that?” Yeonjun recalled.
“Oh, well at the orphanage I’ve been to, a sudden fire spreads one night. So, almost all the kids got out with the help of the adults but then I got trapped in a room because I forgot of something and then that kid, he’s already outside,” Soobin started.
“Then what did he do?”
“They said maybe he noticed that I wasn’t at the ground that time so he came back to look for me— you know he’s really is my best friend something like that. Then an adult went in as well but he lost him and that man found me and took me out of the building and right when he was about to go back to find my friend, a sudden explosion happened and we found him lying on the ground, really burnt.”
Yeonjun suddenly shut his eyes as a thin sound starting to become loud inside his mind. Then he felt Soobin’s hand on his. “Are you okay? Does your head hurt?”
“A-ah yes, it j-just happens everytime,” Yeonjun replied and shrugged it off as he smiles.
“Are you sure? Should we go to the hospital?” Soobin suggested, clearly he is concerned.
Yeonjun just smiled at him. He can’t help but smile as he saw how sincere the younger for him. He’s still in doubt. He’s still trying to figure thing out that’s why he’s not telling anything to Soobin.
Because he knows he can’t trust him.
“Then… Should I ask about your childhood too?” Soobin asked him.
“I grew up in US and went back in here to be a senior in able to take the CSAT and be college student in here,” Yeonjun replied at him.
“US,” Soobin repeated and nods. “You must be living a good life then,” he added a comment.
Yeonjun just pressed his lips knowing how much Soobin had been through in the two orphanages. While Yeonjun I studying, eating at least three times a day, and has parents to make him live and dressed, Soobin on the other hand need to go to the most evil thing just to survive a day.
It was a complete opposite.
“I’m sorry,” Yeonjun just muttered and pressed Soobin’s hand.
“It’s fine. I’m now free anyways, I can do what I want now with my own money,” Soobin replied. “I don’t need to do shits again just to have a food on the table,” he added.
“What exactly is your position in there? In the mafia? Aside from dealing in the university and such that you mentioned before?” Yeonjun asked in curiousty.
Soobin sighs first because he doesn’t really want to answer it. “I don’t want to, what if you’re going to arrest me?” Soobin joked.
“I won’t… not now,” Yeonjun assured.
“Dumbass,” Soobin muttered a cursed then laughs. “Well, in the mafia we have this sections or divisions; the neophytes, upperclassmen, seniors, and the higher ups. I am on the seniors—“
“Wait what!? You said you were in the lowest rank?” Yeonjun shouted in shock. “How the fuck?”
“HAHAHA! Listen, I entered the mafia as young as possible. I haven’t meet San yet back then. As I grow up, my seniors that time observed I am showing something great that can help the family. So they trained me this and that then after years, I was assigned back to be neophytes’ so called leader,” he explained.
“What are you doing there?”
“Those newbies are mostly highschoolers who freaking needs money for their nonsense wants and they actually doesn’t know that the mafia exists. They just thought it as some kind of a part-time job,” Soobin answered.
“So you stayed there for long,” Yeonjun paused. “Then you must know something above right?”
“I do but I won’t tell you that. I can’t tell you that, try to figure it out for yourself, like you always do,” Soobin smiled.
“This is why I can’t trust you,” Yeonjun muttered.
Soobin let out soft chuckles. “Right, don’t trust me. Anyways, get things faster now, Yeonjun,” Soobin stated.
Yeonjun sighs. “Wait there, I am still looking for something,” he replied.
“For what, particularly?”
“My identity,” Yeonjun said and looked at the younger. “Let me know who I really am first then I’ll haunt you down,” he added.
“HAHAHA!” Soobin laughs again and smiled at Yeonjun. “Right, let’s do it like that.”
“But what if he’s still alive? That friend of yours?” Yeonjun asked.
“I hope he is,” Soobin replied while looking at Yeonjun’s eyes. “I do believe he is and I think I already found him.”
“What should I do to keep this man away from Yeonjun?” Beomgyu wondered as he sight the two laughing from where they are sitting.
