The Exchange

“Tell me what you fucking know, Choi Soobin.”

“No, why would I? I already gave my statement before, so why would I do that again?” he smirked and stood up.

“You asshole,” I growl and pushed him against the wall with my arms almost pressing his neck. “Tell me,” I commanded.

He grins. “I already told you what you should do so I can speak. Be the detective in charge and I will answer all your questions,” he stated.

I gritted my teeth and let go of him. “Choi Soobin, I’m starting to suspect you each day. If you aren’t going to do anything to end my suspicions, prepare yourself for a warrant of arrest now,” I stated.

“Try me, Detective Choi,” he challenged me and leans towards me. “Haven’t you realized yet that the more you draw your attention to me, the more you neglect more important things?”

“What the hell are you blabbering about?”

“I don’t know. A genius detective like you should know it already,” he just replied and stood straight. “Ah by the way, are you here tomorrow? I’m going to invite someone in here,” he said.

“Who?” I asked.

“Does it matter? This unit is actually mine now,” he replied.

“Yeah, do drug tomorrow and I will put you behind the bars,” I stated and walked away from him.

“If you suspect me that much then why are you keeping me here?” I heard him ask while I’m at the kitchen.

“Because getting close to my foes are easy way to shut them down,” I stated. “And you’re probably thinking that way to me too,” I added.

I saw him standing and looking at me. “We aren’t that close tho? And I don’t take you as a foe either,” he then sucks his teeth. “We’re just nothing. You’re the only one making it complicated, unless you want some label?”

I glared at him. “Shut up,” I snapped.

“And this button,” he held the plastic. “Ah, is this someone related to Spades? When Spades did have a flaw in killing?” he wondered.

He has the point.

“Give me that. Lose it and I’ll accuse you with obstruction of evidence,” I stated and grabs the button from him.

“I bet the authority doesn’t know you have that. So, it’s like more of you obstructing the evidence?”

There’s a moment of silence between us.

“Soobin, I’m really curious. How did you know about laws?” I asked him in wonder.

“I studied law for almost a year then dropped out,” he answered. “If you’re curious about me, I’m always willing to give you time. Okay, Detective Choi?” he smiled and taps my shoulder. “But for now, I’m gonna sleep because I’m really tired,” he stated and then went in his room.

He studied law? Then why did he drop?

I heard his door opened. “Ah, if you’re wondering why I dropped law school it’s because they say, those people who knows law is scarier than those who don’t. I don’t want to be that scary and an art company took me in for work so, I choose having money that doing shit. Good night!” he suddenly explained and then closes his door again.

“What the hell was that?” I scoff.

It’s already afternoon when I went back to the office because of our division’s meeting. It is said that because of the serial killer’s sudden comeback, the higher ups planned to have a joint investigation by teams one and two yet selected detectives only.
