Backstory

"Soobin, wake up. We're here."

He makes some sleepy sounds and gently opens his eyes. "Oh, thank you," he replied and smiled. "Let's go before the mall closes," he said and get out of the car.

I followed him as we head to the supermarket. I am pushing the cart while he's the one picking what's needed. "Do you want some more?" he asked me as he finish putting everything in the cart.

I shook my head. "Nah, let's go pay this," I just replied.

"Let me pay the half of it—" I stopped him from pulling his card.

"This country might not pay me well but I can still manage," I replied and he laughs.

"Then okay, I don't want arguments," he gave in and we both went to the counter.

We head back to the car and put what we bought in the compartment. After that we made our way back to the apartment and Soobin organized what we had bought.

"Ah Yeonjun, can I ask something?" he said while putting the canned food on the cabinet above the sink.

"What?"

"The news about Spades' victims that turns out to be a family of a cop. Was that you?" he asked.

It took me seconds before I could answer him that made him look at me because of my silence. "Sorry, did I asked a wrong question?" he said after.

"Yeah, they are my parents. I don't know why they got killed by Spades. I-I couldn't find any reasons at all. It wasn't their fault, none of it. Spades is just a pure psycho," I replied and stared back at him.

"I guess he really is," he agreed and continued what he's doing.

I thought he's still going to continue talking about that topic but good thing he didn't. Although there's a part of me that wants to tell him more about me, I decided not to. I just feel like I shouldn't yet.

"My parents died as well," he suddenly said still busy doing his thing. "That's why I came to District 6. There's this super typhoon that time and flashflood happened in District 10 that killed them and almost a hundred people living in the district," he storied with his back facing me.

So San's story is true.

"I guess we really have our similarities then," I commented and smiled.

He chuckles and looked back at me. "We have so much, Detective Choi."

"Yeonjun hyung!"

"Oh punk—" I couldn't finish what I'm saying when he jumped on me and hugged me so tight. "H-hey! Bastard! I can't breathe!" I tried pushing him.

"Ah sorry! Hyung, I'm really sorry!" he apologized again like a kid.

I laugh. "Punk, we're going somewhere, let's go," I said.

"Oh where?"

"Let's go."

We head in my car and went to a coffee shop to order some my usual coffee. "But hyung, did you and Beomgyu hyung fought again?" he suddenly asked while we're drinking.

"Why?"

"He went back at the station looking so mad and he's alone. He even shouted one of the cops," he said.

"Nothing. Let's go we're going somewhere again," I just replied.

He's confused when we are in the car junk shop. "Excuse me, have you found anything in the car that the other police went here for search?" I asked the old man who looks like the manager.
