Chapter 29: Hazy Memories

Hazy Memories

“Hello Jungwon! Is Taehyun inside?”

“Oh! Detective Kai hi! Yes, Taehyun hyung is inside. I’m heading out for lunch too,” Atty. Yang replied to Hueningkai as they bumped at the doorstep of Kang Law Firm office.

“Enjoy your lunch!” Huening replied enthusiastically.

“You too, Detective!”

Hueningkai entered the office as Jungwon leaves and he saw Taehyun at the meeting room reading some papers with a pile of folders on the desk. Taehyun didn’t notice Kai’s presence so he knocked.

Taehyun immediately stood up and open the doors. “I bought lunch!” Hueningkai shouted full of smiles.

“Thank you, Kai! Sit here, I’m actually hungry already,” Taehyun replied as they take a seat.

“Eat a lot,” Huening said and open the food for Taehyun. “What is this you are reading?” he asked.

“Just the same thing,” he replied. “Why are you here by the way? Where’s Yeonjun?” he asked.

“Yeonjun hyung went to District 10,” Kai answered.

Taehyun stopped from moving his hands and stared at his food for seconds after hearing what Hueningkai answered him. “Really? That’s good then. How about Beomgyu?” he asked and casually eats his food.

“He’s busy as well so I was left alone. That’s why I came here,” Hueningkai replied.

“Thank you Kai,” Taehyun smiled and they both chuckles as they continued eating.

After eating, Taehyun stood up and looked outside of the window where the only sight he can see are the other walls of the buildings, cables and nothing else, only the glimpse of sky and a little ray of sun.

“What should we do, Huening?” Taehyun asked.

Hueningkai approached him and hugged him from behind. “We can do it, Taehyun.”

“Can we still make things right?” Taehyun wondered.

“Of course! We’ll try. We always try,” Hueningkai cheered him up.

Taehyun receives a kiss on the top of his head that made him smile. “At least we are trying,” he whispered.

“I know we can do it, Taehyun. I know we can still fix this.”

Choi Yeonjun arrived at District 10 where the salty sea water can be smelled. He started walking on the big rocks towards a man in a hat and with a fishing rod.

“Excuse me sir? Are you perhaps Mr. Kim Seokjin?” Yeonjun asked.

The older looked back. “Who are you?” he asked in reply.

“I am, Choi Yeonjun, sir. I just have some questions,” he introduced himself.

“Oh wait, after I catch some fish,” the older replied and Yeonjun just nods. “You know what? Forget it, come with me at home.”

“Y-yes? H-how about the fish?” Yeonjun asked in confusion.

“Come here now!” Seokjin suddenly yelled while walking away.

“Ah yes! I-I’m coming,” Yeonjun answered and he found it really weird but still followed him.

“Aigoo, may I know why you want to talk to me?” Seokjin asked as they take a seat at the outside chairs while looking at the calm sea.
