I ran to the door, opened it quickly, and let Nancy and Robin inside before me. The three of us ran through the school hallways and into Ms. Kelly's office.
I opened the door to the office before seeing Max panting heavily. "Is everything okay?" I asked as I made my way over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Max turned around to face me. "I saw something, in the hallway."
"Show us," I said.
Max made her way over to the door as we all raised our flashlights before following her.
"It was here," Max said, pointing at the wall that was in front of us. "Right here."
"A grandfather clock?" Robin asked.
Max nodded. "It was so real. And then, when I got closer, suddenly I just...I woke up."
"It was like she was in a trance or something," Dustin said. "Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy."
Max turned around to look at the group. "That's not even the bad part."
We went quiet as Max pushed her way back to Ms. Kelly's office, us following behind her.
I noticed the files on the table. I sat down and grabbed Chrissy's file, reading what it said.
"Fred and Chrissy, they both came to Miss Kelley for help." Max began to explain. "Uh, they were both having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away. And then...then the nightmares. Trouble sleeping. They'd wake up in a cold sweat. Then they started seeing things. Bad things. From their pasts. These visions...they just...they kept on getting worse and worse until eventually...everything ended."
"Vecna's curse," Robin said, looking at Max.
"Chrissy's headaches started a week ago. Fred's, six days ago. I've been having them for five days." Max looked at us like she was about to cry.
I looked over to Steve who rubbed his mouth with his hand. I turned back to Max who began to talk again as she held back her tears.
"I don't know how long I have. All I know is that, for Fred and Chrissy, they both died less than 24 hours after their first vision. And I just saw that goddamn clock so..." Max breathed shakily. "...looks like I'm gonna die tomorrow."
Before any of us could say something a loud, distant clang could be heard, making us turn our heads to where the sound was coming from.
"Stay here," Steve said, looking at us before grabbing the nearest lamp and opening the door.
We slowly followed behind Steve. The clattering could be heard in the distance as we carefully walked through the hall. The footsteps began to approach us rapidly. Steve raised the lamp, ready to attack but before he could do that Lucas came running toward us, making us scream.
"It's me!" Lucas shouted, holding his arms out.
"Lucas?" I exclaimed.
"It's me," Lucas repeated, panting heavily.
"Jesus, what's wrong with you?" Steve snapped.
"I'm sorry." Lucas apologized.
"I could've taken you out with this lamp!" Steve shouted.
"Sorry, guys." Lucas continued to pant. "Sorry. I was biking for eight miles. Give me a second. Shit. We've got a code red."
"What?" Steve and I asked in unison.
"Dustin," Lucas said, walking over to Dustin. "I've been with Jason, Patrick, and Andy, and they've gone totally off the rails." He continued. "They're trying to capture Eddie, and they think you know where he is. You're in terrible danger."
