I was putting on the cleaning gloves as Steve was taking the buckets of meat out of the trunk.  We decided to lure the thing by using meat so we could kill it.

"Well, well, well, look who it is," Dustin said as he talked to his walkie-talkie. "Well, when you were having sister problems, Dart grew again, he escaped and I'm pretty sure he's a baby Demogorgon."

"Who are you talking to?" I whispered to Dustin as I finally put on the yellow gloves.

"Lucas." He whispered back.

"Tell him I say hi," I said as I went to help Steve.

Dustin turned around to face me, raising his eyebrow. "Meet me, Y/n, and Steve at the old junkyard. Also, Y/n says hi."

"Hi, Lucas!" I said while putting my axe in the backpack.

"And bring your binoculars and wrist rocket," Dustin said.

"All right, let's go," Steve said as he closed the trunk. I put on my backpack and I went to stand next to him. He grabbed the buckets filled with meat and he handed me one. Not expecting it to be so heavy I struggled to hold it. "You good there?" Steve asked looking at me.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said with a smile on my face, not wanting to show any weaknesses.

"You know I can hold it for you if-"

"Steve, I said I'm fine, now let's go," I said as I started walking into the woods, Steve slowly following behind me.

Dustin noticed that we started walking and he started to follow us as well. "Just be there, stat. Over and out." He said as he turned off his walkie-talkie.

We walked along the railroad tracks, throwing the meat from our buckets. I was walking behind Steve and Dustin when I overheard them talking about girls.

"All right, so let me get this straight. You kept something you knew was probably dangerous in order to impress a girl who...who you just met?" Steve asked.

"All right that's grossly oversimplifying things." Dustin retorts.

"I mean, why would a girl like some nasty slug anyway?"

"I liked the nasty slug," I said as I shrugged.

Steve stopped in his track as he turned around to look at me. "You don't count okay?"

I chuckled before speaking. "Why don't I count Harrington?"

"Yeah, why doesn't she count?" Dustin added looking at Steve.

Steve rolled his eyes before he started to walk again. "Because you're weird."

"Thanks, now I'm hurt," I said sarcastically as I continued to throw the meat.

"Well, even if she thought it was cool, which she didn't, I...I just...I don't know. I just feel like you're trying way too hard."

"Well, not everyone can have your perfect hair, all right?" Dustin said.

"It's not about the hair, man," Steve said as he walked closer to Dustin. "The key with girls is just...just acting like you don't care."

"Even if you do?" Dustin asked looking at Steve.

"Yeah, exactly. It drives them nuts." Steve confirmed.

I sighed before walking to Dustin. "Don't listen to him. Girls want someone who doesn't ignore them and someone,...someone who cares about them." I said as I put my hand on his shoulder, smiling at him.

Dustin nodded while turning back to Steve. "Then what?" He asked. I rolled my eyes not believing that Dustin would rather listen to Steve than me.

"You just wait until, uh...until you feel it," Steve answered while turning around to throw the meat.
