What felt like hours was finally over as we reached the store with a big The War Zone sign on top of it. "Okay, we're here," Steve said as he parked the trailer next to the store. "I want you all to stay in the car." He pointed at the kids and Eddie. "Me, Y/n, and Robin will go inside to get what we need. Nancy, you stay in here and take care of them." After hearing what Steve said the kids immediately started to complain.
"No, no, no." The kids complained.
"This is so not fair!" Dustin argued. "We're not little kids anymore."
"I usually don't like to agree with losers, but that dingus is right," Erica stated as Max and Lucas agreed with her. "Besides the three of you can not carry all that heavy stuff."
I sighed before speaking. "Since there is no beating you...and because I know you will be complaining the whole ride,...you can come." The kids' faces lit up.
"See Steve, you should be more like Y/n." Dustin smiled as Steve pretended to ignore him.
"But, someone is going to have to stay with Eddie," I said as I remembered that we have a wanted person in our trailer.
The group went quiet for a second before Nancy decided to speak up. "Alright, I'll stay with Eddie."
"Aww, thanks, Wheeler." Eddie giggled. "You were always my favorite."
Nancy looked disgusted before she spoke back to me and Steve."You guys hurry up, and try not to cause any suspicion."
"With that many kids,...impossible," I said sarcastically. "but we will try."
One by one we got out of the trailer and headed to the store. Erica opened the doors as we followed right behind her. My eyes widened when she opened the doors as I saw signs that spelled knives, tents, survival, etc.
"So much for avoiding angry hicks," Robin said pointing at the people in the store.
"Let's be...fast," I said, looking at the people. The others agreed and we split up. I went back to grab the shopping cart as Steve followed me.
"I think I'm going to find something to wear first," Steve said.
My eyes traveled to his bear torso, reminding me he wasn't wearing his shirt. "Yeah, good idea," I said. "I need to find gasoline so let's meet there." Steve nodded as he went to find a shirt and I went to find gasoline.
After looking for a minute I finally found what I was looking for. I was confused on how many of them I should take. My eyes landed on Steve who was walking over to me. I noticed his new jacket which looked good on him. "You look hot in this jacket." I complimented him making him smile.
"You think?" He showed off his new jacket. "It's because of my face I know." He joked.
I laughed at him. "Sure," I remembered the gasoline and decided to ask him about it. "Sorry to interrupt your fashion show, but how much of these do you think we need?" I held up one of the cans.
"Five or six." He helped me put the gasoline in the cart and I thanked him.
"Hey, I think that I'm going to check the guns," I said remembering that this was why we came here.
"Need any help with that?" Steve offered to help but I declined.
"No, you stay here and grab some knives or something." I smiled as I headed to the gun section. I walked for a minute as I couldn't find any gun that interested me until I saw the shotgun. I stared at it for a second until I decided to grab it. I looked at it more closely and figured that this was what I wanted. "Excuse me." I headed to the cashier who was an older man. "How much is it?" I asked.
The cashier smiled at me nicely before answering. "$120.99, but I'll throw in 20 rounds of buckshot for ya."
"Thanks, that would be great." I smiled back at the cashier.
"Hey, can I see this real pretty .357, please?" A man's voice said making me look up at who it was. My eyes widened as I looked at the rather familiar face and noticed that it was Jason. I quickly looked at the ground not wanting him to notice me but unfortunately, he did. "Y/n L/n." I turned around to look at him. "Wouldn't expect to find you here."
"Well, my dad decided to teach me how to shoot." I quickly made up a lie. "It's just...scary times, with the killer on the loose." Jason nodded. "I'm sorry,...about Chrissy"
Jason stayed quiet as he thought about his girlfriend. "Want my advice?" He finally spoke as I listened closely. "Shotguns are not good for much of anything past killing small birds." He slowly went over to me. "I mean; they got power, sure, but not much range. And that's just gonna force you into close-range combat, then someone can just grab that barrel like this..." He grabbed the barrel with his hand. "And redirect it."
I looked him in the eyes, without showing any fear. "Thanks for your advice, now let go." I stood my ground as he smiled.
"Take care of yourself L/n."
