13- ROOT

Izumi's POV:

I thought that Itachi and I would be held back but Yuki-sensei knew we would become chunin easily on our own so he didn't hold us back but encouraged us. So on the next chunin exams, he recommended us for the exams and right now, Itachi, Shisui and I were hanging out at the training grounds. Where they were stuffing their faces with my treats. When Shisui heard we were going to take the exams, he dragged us to train and to give a brief summary of it.

More specifically....

"DON'T DIE ON ME!" He shouted, "DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE ME WITH HOARDS OF BANSHEES ON ME!!!" Yeah... that was mainly for Itachi. Shisui didn't want him to die and leave him to deal with banshees aka fangirls. "Izumi, you better take care of him for me! Got it?!" I nodded while patting his head to reassure him. "Don't worry, I won't let him die." (A/N: Whatever is underlined means Izumi is using sign language now) Itachi sighed, "Shisui, I'll be fine. I won't die."

Shisui...

Shisui...!

SHISUI...!!

Shisui's head literally did a 180 degree turn, eyes resembling an owl. "YEAH RIGHT! YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE THE EXAMS WITH ONLY IZUMI!! WITH ONLY 2 MEMBERS IN THE TEAM, YOU'RE DEFINITELY GOING TO GET TARGETTED!!!" He screamed while Mew counted, '3, 2, 1...' the pain of doing a 180 degree turn on the neck finally registered and Shisui shrieked in pain while Itachi facepalmed as I did the same. Hard to believe that we're friends.... Hell, how did Itachi deal with him in canon? I knelt down to the older Uchiha to heal his neck while Itachi held him down, not wanting him to somehow snap his neck next.

I wrapped his neck in bandages while Itachi set him down. "You'll be fine but you won't be able to train for about 3 weeks." Shisui pouted while I asked nonchalently, "Should I call on one of your banshees to take care of you? After all, your family is out in the Land of Water meaning no one's home and I wouldn't want to disturb Mikoto-sama to care for you!" He glared at me, "IZUMI, DON'T YOU DARE!" Itachi snickered while slapping Shisui's shoulder, "She's clearly joking." I stuck out my tongue while giving him a peace sign. He rolled his eyes playfully while giving a smile.

"But seriously, you can't train." He started pouting again while Itachi pat his head before getting up, "Might as well train now." I nodded while leaving our stuff with Shisui as we started sparring. As usual, we were neck to neck in terms of taijutsu. Soon, I sensed Fugaku coming. Although, I was on neutral terms with him, he intimidates me. Not only that, he's so grouchy and grumpy all the time, literally. Never saw him smile once. I quickly jumped back a bit, "I'll be going now. I need to cook dinner." Itachi raised an eyebrow before looking up to see it was almost night. "My mother is on a mission out of boredom right now. So it's just my father back home, and knowing him, he'll burn the house down."

Itachi sweat dropped, "Alright then." I nodded and walked away, when I was far enough, I teleported to my house. I went in to see father about to use the water vortex jutsu?! I quickly smacked him on the head while I shot water bullets at the fire before glaring at him. "I'll do the cooking, you sit back and watch if you want to learn." He opened his mouth to retort when I gave him another glare. He put up his hands in surrender and went to sit down when a bird was spot outside in the air. "Izumi, I have the go, Lord Hokage is calling for me." I sighed softly and nodded.

I whipped up dinner and sat down at the wooden round table where there were 2 empty seats. First time eating dinner by myself. Thought it would feel different but it didn't make a difference at all. I sighed again, knowing that father was sent on a mission since he didn't come back yet. I saw one of father's birds perched outside the window, knowing what it was about. I let the bird in, took the little paper that was attached to its foot.
